Putting together a tour of the NW leaving out of the Portland, OR area for about 2 -3 weeks. - Dates to be determined, but beginning in late July(potentially 7/18/2011). - Tour the NW (OR, WA) - Use Freeways ONLY to get from one road to the next road of interest - Explore back-roads and points of interest - Mostly Camping, hit a motel every 3-4 nights or so for laundry, showers, good sleep, etc. - Daily runs between 150-300 miles giving time to stop and see the sights, take pics, etc. . - General Daily destinations (Oregon/Washington Coast, Crater Lake, Hells Canyon Loop, E. Washington, Olympics, etc.), but not cast in stone, allowing for adjustments as opportunities and interests present themselves. - General points of interest may be National and State parks (Crater Lake, Olympic Nat., San Juan Islands, etc). ** Primary Goal: Enjoy the journey, have fun, (with maybe[??} an adult malted beverage or two++), relatively easy riding (but enjoy the "sweepers" and twisties"), see the back-roads and real presence of the NW. If interested, please contact me for putting together a general plan of action or destination list. That part is best as a group effort, giving all an input to the excursion.

Would you consider a slight deviation towards slipping across the border to arrive in Nelson, BC during the weekend of July 15-17th to attend the Triumph Rally (RAT Raid) in Nelson of that weekend? You would meet a lot of people from these forums AND virtually have at your disposal some of the BEST world class riding AND a tour guide ta boot (yours truly) to show you passage through the "best kept secret" for riders anywhere!
Just an idea... to enhance your already stellar plans!!!

There is not a bad road around Baker City. I did the Baker City run with the Cascade RATs a couple years ago. Awesome! Crater Lake is on my to do list also. Ill second Keiths suggestion, come on up to Nelson BC. THey truly are some of the best roads to be had in the NW.
Sounds like your going to have a heck of a summer there.

Sounds interesting. I'm retiring 6/30 , so with an earlier departure date, it could happen. And having an "enhanced" Washington Drivers License - don't need a Passport. Also, I've read that Nakusp (BC-6) isn't a bad place to head for. We'll see if there is any further interest in that direction. Thanks!

Nakusp is a GREAT place to arrive at and the getting there is even more fun. And on the same weekend as the rally in Nelson is the annual music festival in Nakusp. http://www.nakuspmusicfest.ca/I'm heading up there on Sunday (July 17) just as the rally shuts down. Among the bands playing that day are The Grapes of Wrath, Soul Asylum and the Doobie Brothers. Come on up... a great way to celebrate your retirement!!!

Sounds better all the time. The last "Music Festival" I went to was Woodstock, but that's another story.
I'm speeding because I have to get there before I forget where I was going.

It'll take a couple (?) o' Molson's to jog the memory (or at least whats left of it, it was a long weekend [my friend told me]).

Those are the areas I was primarily targeting. B.C. is not off the list though. Thanks for the input.

Recognizing that July is still a long way off (along with 70 degree temps) I wanted to post this to give folks time to look at vacation schedules and/or time availabily. If 2-3 weeks is too long, I'd be open to a couple of shorter (1-2 weeks) runs - same general area/time frame. Standing By,
