Just picked up my new toy, a kawasaki kz1000. This particular model had not been sold in Australia so to us is a little unusual. There are not many of these kawasakis left over here anymore either. She appears to have a good strong engine and is running very well. She does need some TLC to bring back her beauty which I am more than capable of doing.

Speedy has some company now and will have to share her persian rug.

Cool machine ... where do you get em ?
I have a couple of Honda 4's and would love a Kwaka but i can't be too greedy and they have certainly gone up in price

Yep it is hard to find the Kwakas these days especially in half decent condition. The camera seems to have hidden alot of the faults but believe me they are there. The early 900s are going for anything up to $25000 in good condition but the 1000s are less than half that. Basically the same bike though. I got mine from www.classicride.com.au A guy called David Tonkin, seems to know his bikes.
I chose it a while back when he took it out of storage and then he pulled it down and restored it to this level. There is alot more that could be done to it but it is pretty nice as is.

Nice lookin' bowl of rice ya got there, Steve!

And yeah, Classic Ride Motorcycles sure has some very tasty and very desirable "Rice", "Pasta", "Bratwurst" and "Fish&Chips" classic "dishes" on their "menu" there, alright!

(...though, OOOOOH doggy...their prices are pretty much top dollar there TOO for all those "culinary delights", aren't they?!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Nice find Steve... time to break out the Sake!!

I read what you said about the early 900s going for a premium. Then I remembered a buddy from back in the early 70s who bought 2 '74 900s brand new. He rode on and put the other one into immediate storage. "Gonna be worth a lot of money someday," he said. I lost track of that guy but I wonder what ever happened to the never ridden bike.

Anyhow I went a looking on ebay for some of those early 900s and there are a few. Nothing up in the $25,000 range but most are still being bid on.
