We just installed a couple of full floating front rotors on the Speedmaster. The left side will fit the America as well. With only a few miles on them, and still in the bedding process, I could tell right away that these things are going to be real nice. Also for anyone that has either had warping or is concerned about it, this is the cure.

Very cool Brent.
Are you going to be selling them?

Of course we are! We have them in stock and ready to go. I just wanted to have it on my personal bike and tested out before offering them up on the site.

How are they mounted to the hub and what will they cost?

They're a direct replacement for the stock solid rotor(s). Simply remove the old and install the new. The complete kit comes with new EBC HH pads as well. The single disc America version will be $232.99. The dual disc Speedmaster kit, complete with 2 sets of pads, will be $465.98. Here's a quick pic...

Very nice... my standard rotors're behaving themselves so far, but if they go I know what I'll be replacing them with. Was wondering if the floaters fit the rear, or if that's even neccesary?
BTW, joint order from me & member SRS coming in a week or so for some various bits of chrome.

Matt - I'm not aware of a floating rear rotor. It's not necessary unless you just like the look.
Keep in mind, too, that these floating fronts aren't just a replacement. They're a bona fied performance upgrade over the stock rotors.
We'll be looking for that joint order. Thanks!!

Brent, glad to see you offering this cool stuff for the Speedmaster, BellaCorse thinks of the America / Speedmaster kinda like an afterthought. It may be 2006 before I put those rotors on order, but rest assured my Speedmaster will have them !!

Hey Brent
What exactly is the difference between a fixed & a floating rotor?

A fixed rotor is a single piece unit hard mounted to the wheel making it completely rigid. The floating rotor is a 2 piece unit. The rotor is attached to its hub via rivets and wave washers that allow it to be semi-rigid or floating. The benefit is that when the brake is released this small amount of float will cause the caliper to completely release eliminating the pads from dragging which in turn can cause warpage to the rotor.

Right - What papatod said. The floaters are also much more efficient at cooling down.. Not to mention the savings in unsprung weight!
