I don't even need to voice my opinion, do I?

I'm glad you're going with the chrome too. I'm late to this thread but that's my opinion. The Spares will look sweet on your bike. Way better than what you got on there now...TORs right?

Good pick, stickin' with the chrome, ol' buddy.

Btw...before you start "Opinions appreciated III", I'm gonna tell ya right here and now that apehangers would DEFINITELY look out o' place on that bike o' yours.

(...black, chromed or otherwise!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Keith, you've made your mind up which is good but you did ask for opinions. The way I see your bike, it's probably one that deserves chrome. I have seen bikes though where the owner IMHO has lost sight and a bit of perspective with too much chrome. "too much chrome" you ask? Yes, too much.

Of course beauty is in the eye etc etc but too much chrome can start looking like a circus where the only person who doesn't see it is the owner. Probably just as well cos he'd be shocked if he could see the forrest for the trees.

I'm not saying change your decision by any means but I reckon chrome needs to be broken up with another colour to give it balance otherwise it's all bling with no thought.

I very much appreciate your opinion, Stacka! Oh yeah... this is definitely such a thing as too much chrome. I'll break it up... maybe with those red tips I was talking about. But cha know... my bike has chrome pipes as it stands right now and it looks great! So by putting on chrome SSs it won't change much in the bling department.

The black pipes would look good on a Speedy. That's a really good looking setup you have there. I think you should stick with the chrome.

Keith. I was really referring to purchases in the future re too much chrome. I reckon you're on exactly the right track already with the chrome SS's with red tips. Very nice.

Btw, has anyone mentioned ( you probably know already anyway ) how you may well have to increase areas of your carb settings cos the SS's generally breath better than the tors. Btw, I have had both types of Pipes on my bike and that was my experience.

Oh, okay. Yes, the future may not include more chrome... we'll see. I already have a bit more going on the bike once it shows up. And regarding the jetting... yup, that occurred to me too. I'm prepared now to play with the carbs... in fact at the time of this writing they are off my bike and awaiting just that... new jets!

I tell ya mate, geez it can be hard to express an opinion in this type of medium. I just wouldn't want you to think anything other than, IMHO of all bikes I think your bike is easily as suited to chrome than any of the others. Particularly being cardinal red etc. They stand out very nicely but I do think one word, Balance is one to remember when evaluating future purchases.

Initially when we get our bikes I think we can chrome up with all these different types of improvements but eventually it gets to a point in time where a theme of some sort is necessary to distinguish your bike from the others.

You know this already otherwise you woukdn't have created this thread to start with. What I found was, it was easy to keep buying chrome toys but what was my bike going to look like if I continued that way. So I decided more black and less chrome from now on. You've heard the saying "black is the new chrome" but only to a point.

So I guess our bikes get to a point where every inclusion does need careful consideration so we achieve the "form AND function" thing happening.

. I'm not sure whether you've done any carb work but if not, it's a piece of pis* mate. That's replacing jets and needles I mean. Getting them to work well all together is another part of the equation altogether.

Actually my best ever dyno was done with SS pipes but I'm not quite there yet with tweaking my own new setup.

Anyway Keith, really looking forward to seeing your new pipes with those red tips - sweet

Ya think so Dave? Hmmmm, well I do have my cam cover off at the moment. Then there's those chrome engine mounts... do they show all that much? Maybe I need to replace those with chrome too!
