If you want to trim off 12 miles from day 3, I usually get off I-15 at Nephi, not Spanish Fork. But that Spanish Fork road to Gunnison looks interesting and I haven't been on it before.

Hey Becky, I had looked at that direction but was familiar with the route by Page/Lake Powell. The road 89A through Fredonia looks nice from the map. I was just concerned about fuel stops and wanted to make sure we would have them available. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Mike, Do you want to meet us in Ontario, and have us follow you to your place or you can give your address to Z. He has the GPS. I might still have your phone number. I'll have to look.
Friar, Are you going to meet us in Star?

I apologize if my posting sounded agressive or un-nice.Hwy 28 is just past Nephi and connects with Gunnison and hwy 89..Friar has been on this and this is a more direct route to Kanab with possible side trip to Zion,One can use 6/89 out of Spanish Fork(truckers avoid this route due to slow moving motorcycles!)Its about 75-80 miles so fuel would be no problem.Once we agree on a route...we can all be nice again!

PM sent to you and Z. Sure can meet you guys in Ontario. However, if you bring another typhoon with you I might make that a little closer to home.

Becky, You say head to Flagstaff instead of taking 64 through Grand Canyon Village?
Z - If you have the time Hwy 64 into the Canyon is nice - you will need a park pass or pay the entry fee though. But it will add miles to the day, as when you do that you end up in Williams, 30 miles west of Flagstaff. And then have to either go another 20 miles (or so) west to pick up 89 south to Prescott, or back to Flagstaff, and then South on I-17 or 89A (which is the long way down). What day are you coming through Flagstaff? If its Thurs afternoon of SWTF weekend - I can ride down with you if you come through Flagstaff. Depending on the time of day, we can decide the route. Becky

Brent - the 89A route is much more scenic and there are plenty of fuel stops, as I mentioned. The road from Kanab to Page is booooring, (I almost ended up with heat stroke along that stretch one July) and then out from Page to Kaibeto is pretty desolate as well - and you are going way east of where you need to be. Once you are back on 89 at Bitter Springs (nothing there but some houses) careful of the traffic. There will be a lot of folks headed for the lake for the weekend, and passing is a sport on that road. Luckily they have added passing lanes in the last few years. Becky

Becky>>Thanks for your help, suggestions and directions...As soon as route is decided upon then we can plan to add meet/greet's and we will see the time table. The Group>>I am personally awaiting for my friend Bill(in Blythe right now) to confirm His presence in Boise on Memorial weekend,,If not then I may come early to visit friends in Scottsdale and friends in Peoria before SWTF and will not ride down but may connect on ride home.Dont make plans to accomodate my "tokas"..we are still 6 weeks out but should firm up within 2-3 weeks.

Had pre-birthday dinner with my trucker friend Charlie last nite and He confirms "Z"'s suggestion to get off at Spanish Fork and go to Gunnison."some of the most beautiful country you will see"..so now I vote with "Z".I looked at His Trucker Atlas and it is suggested as a direct route also!Having pre-birthday dinner tonite with Don/Pattie and will report their suggestions.Getting excited!!PS>If Bill will not be home,Mike sent me an invite to stay at Star..more options!

Z's route sounds good to me too. I'm easy. and...Thank you Becky. When I stayed at Lake Powell, and then drove to Zion, I was in an air conditioned car, so I didn't think about the desolateness of the drive so much. Now, where do we find the best Navajo Taco?

Dang, now I'm thinking I better put a new rear tire on before Arizona. When I was pulling off the rear fender last weekend I noticed it was looking a little bald. Crap. EDIT: Looking at my log it's been almost TWO YEARS since I put this tire on. There's no way I put nearly 10,000 miles on that tire.

So, um, yeah, I haven't made any reservations in Prescott yet. While I don't necessarily need to stay in the fart factory, er, I mean loft, I wouldn't mind sharing a room with someone to save money. I'm pretty easy to room with (ask Freedom) but I do have a CPAP. It's pretty quiet compared to the one I had three years ago.
I guess the same goes for the trip down. Just in Kanab, right?
Why does this feel like I'm filling out an online personal ad? I feel dirty. I need a Silkwood shower...

I'll share a room if I got room, maybe I'll even pack my cpap. We could then have dueling whooshes. I can't promise I wouldn't fart. $56 for privacy is nice though. I'll look into that.
