Sh1t man, I ain't no encyclopedia. If you're going to go to the trouble to use the archaic search engine and throw crap up in my face, go find a real answer. All I know is that there weren't any 2001 Bonneville America's.

According to our friend Soren, it was 2003... Quote:
2002 Triumph America / 2003 Triumph Speedmaster With the 100th Anniversary of Triumph Motorcycle production, Triumph enters the cruiser market hard and heavy in 2002 with the introduction of the Bonneville America (in 2003 the name is shortened to America), a laid back relaxed cruiser with the same motor as the Bonneville (with the exception of a 270 degree crank). In 2003 Triumph introduces a leaner, meaner and sportier version of the America and calls it the Speedmaster. Destined to be all time classics, as they reflect the heritage of past Triumphs, both bikes continue to be an essential mainstay of Triumph and fierce competition in the American cruiser market.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Oh, wait, I did But, yes, 2002 was the only official year of the Bonneville America (the only year that Triumph referred to them as a Bonneville America). However, some 2003 model year Americas had the Bonneville America side panel (until they ran out of stock). One thing that I found real interesting is that on the title of my wife's bike (it's a 2006) it says Bonneville America.

Drop the Bonneville? Oh no!
Did the tank get dented?
Hard-y har har
Once I find the right one, I'm going to put a Bonneville decal on my Speedmaster side cover.
Why?
To pess off unclecharlie and his artificial / left over goods / not really a Bonneville, Bonneville.
I think Alex the 9 fingered dealer dropped his bike (twice) and gave him a used side cover off a pre-fire that was in the shop to have it's tires ruined.

It was sometime in '03 after they ran out of the old decals. Many items are designed out but are still used up if they don't have any particular effect. Some of the early '03 Americas also came with the old wiring harness that didn't have the tach signal wire.
