I travel so much maybe I missed it. Have we ever had a Texas Rally? If not, should we? The Alamo, Riverwalk, Hill Country 3 sisters riding etc.
Or Houston Galveston off season and the gulf coast.
Is there an interest?

http://www.bmoaonline.com/I am working on a rally in march. Not my rally, and not a "triumph rally" but a cool one none the less. I just gotta confirm dates.

Sounds like a good idea to me. How about near Round Rock or Marble falls.

I am open for anywhere. We can always find a few good routes to ride once we pick the place.
South Padre and Corpus are just too far south IMHO for those already doing a lot of miles to get here.

We need a good central location near a good camping spot.

I'd be interested in ridin over from Mississippi in late May or early June for a Triumph rally. I'm locked into the job till then. Thats kept me from the other SE USA rallies posted on this site. But I'd love to do a Texas rally. I've got family in both Dallas and Houston areas but anywhere would suit me. I'm in if the schedule is right.
Its more fun to be ridin'! I'm still ridin

Okay lets pick a City, I live in San Antonio, we have members in Dallas and Houston areas as well as Sequin and Austin. So anywhere would work. Dallas may be the most reachable for the most folks out of the area I am thinking. So, I will start by saying Dallas for the location. Remember SWTF is the weekend of June 3 so lets not conflict with that.

Partial to the Hill Country myself. Fredericksburg is a favorite, but Marble Falls, Johnson City are good too. Along 290 are a lot of campgrounds and historic stuff.
Out towards Medina is the Lonestar Motorcycle Museum. Not a whole lot to do but ride as the Twisted Sisters are near there.
I have some contacts with cycle dealers and a general apparell shop that would probably get in on it. They're centered around New Braunfels and Wimberly area though. Alamo or Lonestar Triumph might be inclined to get involved, but not sure. Lonestar out of Austin is the better of the two and have a loose, somewhat disfunctional RAT club out there.
As a rally master for a military travel club I know of some caterers and a couple of campground owners as well. Particulary, Bandera and Canyon Lake.
That's my input.

From what I've seen and read, my vote is hill country. The museum and three sisters look good.

Will our out of State folks ride that deep in is all I worry about. Texas is the size of France after all.

I agree on Saxtron's thought.Late Apr, May, maybe early Jun. After that we're looking at Oct early Nov. The spring has the flowers and Blue Bonnets. Fall has the changing colors. Both are awesome in there on rights. If we're looking for a simple first time throw together, I think the spring can be done quickly. The event can grow from there to a follow-up event next year.
If we want a larger confluence of bikes, people, vendors, etc, then the fall is a better target date to give time to get it all together.
What kind of event are we talking here. Metric only. British Iron only. Triumph (New Bonneville) only and let the rest of the world come and stare at our bikes in awe. Or what.

I would be happy with 5-6 Triumph riders, anything else just makes it better. Then again it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. A little wind in my face and a few friends is all I really need.
October is a fabulous month in Hill Country. Cool mornings and 80 by noon.
Should we be talking to Euro Sport, Polaris West, Lone Star, Alamo etc. to get announcements out too? I think we have a dozen dealers in Texas that could post it.

As someone who would be comeing from the midwest fall would work better as we already have two events in June, the SW and Midwest rallys.

COUNT ME IN!
WHEN WHERE AND HOW? CAUSE WWE CAN DO ALAMO AND RIVERWALK THEN HIT LUKENBACH HWY AND HIT THE POSTOFFICE/BEER BARN!
THERE IS EVEN BRERKENRIDGE PARK FOR A BIG GATHERING AND PICKNICK. LET ME KNOW AND ILL SEE HOW I CAN HELP. I got some biker family that lives near the park who I could probably wrangle some help setting up with.

I think it will be fun. I will be at SWTF 1st week of June so surely will not be then lol.

He!! mom in law had a 79 bonnie that was almost mine. She may get a kick out of helping. PM me for phone numbers and stuff.

Okay, here goes. May 13,14,15. Exact location TBA but will be Texas Hill Country. For reference SW of Austin, W of New Braunfels, NW of San Antonio. The 13th will be roll in get settled and do a ride out to eat wherever. The 14th will include running the 3 sisters and Vanderpool Motorcycle Museum. The 15th will be a quick lunch trip to Lukenbach Texas to visit with Waylon, Willie and the boys. Sunday is a major motorcycle stop there. Year round population 3. Everything above is basic rambling and subject to change. Lets try to get some folks together. I know, I know, it conflicts with Myrtle Beach. I hope the WWTF doesn't kill their bike week.

The Houston BMOA does an annual trip to ConCan every Spring. Last year was the first year I made it, and I can't believe I never went before. That is Hill Country to those of you that might not know. Just west of San Antonio, near Garner State Park. An easy reach to just about anywhere out there you want to ride.
I went out on Thursday last year, rode all day Friday (did the Three Sisters, Friday), and then on Saturday a buddy and I went everywhere the crowds weren't. Weather was perfect.
It should be on the BMOA calendar, just check the link above. We all stay at Neal's Lodges.
