... anybody know anyone with one?
For those of you who don't like plastic, don't even look at one then start p!ssing in my ear.
Oh yeah, for those of you who don't know the difference, it's Italian so it smells of linguine, not rice.
Constructive points only please. Ta.

I think the whole Guzzi lineup looks pretty good.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

I'm pretty sure the one I looked at didn't look like that For a start, Ian at the dealership has black hair

I didn't post a pic deliberatley. Didn't want too much plastic dopey comments. What the hey, here it is .. I don't know what that gold colour is, it's not offered as an option on the info I have. I don't like it anyway. They do a black one in the basic Stevlio, the NTX has the bash guards and engine guards etc. .

I was posting a pic of her, she just happened to be sitting on the bike you were talking about. Shes the best accessory I have seen offered by a motorcycle company in a while.

could have been my antiquated computator cause now I got all three. I think if I were going to go that type of bike it would be a Triumph Tiger.

Now that's funny!
I love the Guzzis as well as the Ducatis. Them Italians sure can make some fast motor vehicles. Not counting the Fiat (fix it again Tony) spider that I owned before I grew a brain. Anyhow, I love the bike. I ride with a guy with an 1100 Guzi that is smokin, and I mean smokin fast. Can wheelie in any gear at any time pretty much. In fact he does them when not expected and then pulls over and shakes the poop from his pantleg quite a lot.
But yea, beautiful piece of equipment. (the bike is nice too)
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Badoom tschhh!
I read they only produce something like 8000 bikes a year so it might be that more 'different' than those two-a-penny Tigers I was actually looking at Guzzis before I bought my T100. Had the V7 been available then, I doubt I'd have had the Bonny. I had a 1200cc Norge tourer for 1/2 day and thought it was pityful. Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding ... then again, I was comparing it to my R3

The one I sat on was red. I'd say that bash guard is plastic, it's black in the brochure. The basic one comes in red, black and white (I'd have black), the better spec NTX (hand guards, aluminium bash plate, engine bars, abs, additional lights, aluminium box panniers) comes in titanium (read: grey). It looks meaner but looks a bit too off-road for me. I'm no off roader but I would go for the extra lights. Anything to help numpty cagers see me

It's a great motorcycle from what I've read, and I read every write-up in the mags I subscribe to that wrote about it. The only negative comment I remember reading was that the center stand scrapes early, so it has limited ground clearance when riding agressively in the twisties. If your looking that direction, I don't have to tell you the Triumph Tiger 1050 has a lot to offer, probably at a much more attractive price. And the new Tiger 800's should be out soon. I'm liking the Tiger 800 more every day.

It is one big-arse moto close-up & in-person, especially with the hard-bags mounted. It could be a challenge for some to even swing a leg over it.

Probably. I can't speak for the vertically challenged, I sat on it with both feet down almost flat. The seat is adjustable so it might have been on the lower setting for all I know.

Soooo ... I managed to get a test ride today. My opinion? What a crock! I thought the riding position was going to be the downfall after riding cruisers but that was fine. That thing shook more than a Harley! While I was putting my lid on, I gave up trying to get my gloves to stay on the seat. I took it back after about 20 miles - I thought I'd get nerve damage in my hands! Power was rubbish too. I rode a 1200cc Norge a while ago and thought it was gutless and this was no different. The thing vibrated really badly in all gears at all speeds. I don't know if there was something wrong with this bike but I certainly won't be parting with £10,000 for one. When I got back I took out a very low mile 1200cc GS BMW. What a difference! Much smoother and much quicker. I actually liked the BMW but I've read horror stories about reliability over the last few years. Also, why would a 2 year old kitted-out bike like this only have 4000 (and a bit) miles on it? I always think really low miles suggest it's spent more time at the dealers than being ridden. My R3 came back tonight. I'm busy with work so I might get to ride it in a couple of days .... I plan on trying a new 1050cc Tiger. Yeah I know, I know, I said I wouldn't buy one. On paper it looks a good deal - there are some freebies on offer at the minute (centre stand, hand guards, 3 box panniers set and touring screen). I love the stoopid power of the R3 but after the problems I've had with it, I have that niggling feeling in the back of my mind that it's just a matter of time before it lets me down again and now it's out of warranty, repairs will cost big bucks. My local spit and sawdust garage isn't going to be able to work on it. Decisions decisions

hey let me see if i can make it even harder...
as you know I own a 2002 TBA ...2007 1050 Tiger... and a 2009 rocket III tour... love them all..
I don't ride the the TBA much any more don't think I put 300 miles last years..great bike but after 2 years on the tiger and then getting the rocket..it came in last of what bike to ride ..
the Tiger 1050 man what a bike.. I would have to say that this is the most all around bike triumph makes it will do it all.. from touring to every day use just a great bike very fast nimble doest it all...as far as 2up vicki liked this bike the only thing she did not like was getting on and off the bike..the rear seat is very high she had to stand on the rear peg and use me to step & swing her self off and on to the bike... have done a 800 mile day 2up on this bike very easy was not in pain at the end of the day
rocket III tour great bike does the 2up riding the best... "wife loves the floorboards" just as fast as the tiger "drag race" up to about 115mph then the Tiger will pull away will have to say the rocket is my favorite.. handles great a ton of power just love this bike..
now here over on this side of the pond was told that be looking for the new Trophy late this summer ??? don't know if that true.. but see what you can find out maybe trade your rocket in on that from the pic's I have seen of it... nice looking bike..or just go for a R3 tour

Hi Ed I had a test R3 a few times before buying. I knew I was going to have one, I just had to convince the insurance companies! I tried an R3 touring. Didn't like it as much as a standard R3. I hear tell that there is a new 1200cc (possibly called) Trophy coming out and the engine is to be used in a bigger 'adventure' Tiger - the 800 (800XC) but bigger. The 1050 Tiger will be kept as a general purpose bike. I too still have my America and it just feels so small and slow now after having a new Sprint ST for 2 years and then the R3 for 2.5 years. I was reluctant to get a 1050cc Tiger if they are bringing a bigger one out later but I hear that the 1200cc version will be an 'adventure' type (to take on the BMW GS) and won't just be a bigger 1050cc Tiger. I'm not into the adventure thing. I just want something that's comfy and quick. BTW, Wendy will have the same issues as Vicki ... I'll go and look to see if they do a retractable step ladder in the accessories section

I know what you mean about the vibration factor of these Guzzi, Ade.
About 6 or 7 years ago when I took my BA in for its first valve adjustment, Matt Capri the owner of South Bay Triumph who was also selling Moto Guzzis out of his dealership at the time, loaned me a Guzzi V11 Sport to use for a day or so while they were performing the aforementioned work on my BA.
I always had had a soft-spot in my heart for Guzzis, and so I was really looking forward to this chance to get to know this Italian beauty.
However, the next afternoon as I returned on the V11 to pick up my BA, I came to the realization that my hope for owning a Guzzi some day didn't quite live up to the idealized picture of it which I had formed over the years. Yep, like yourself, I had found that the V11 shook as much or worse than any Harley I had ever ridden. In fact, while waiting at a red-lighted intersection the "head-shake" it had was so pronounced that if you'd put it neutral and take you hands off the bars, it felt as if the forks would start to turn on their own to one side or the other.
(...though even with that said, I still seem to have that "soft-spot" for 'em somehow...might be all that "character" they exude!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

There was a niggly little thing too ... the indicators are positioned less conveniently below the very conveniently positioned 'mode' button for the trip computer. The indicator button is much smaller that the mode button so I found myself using the computer trip switch instead of the indicators. Ouch! No doubt it would become familiar with use. Oh yeah, what is with these people and indicators? The BMW has that stoopid left indicator on the left grip and right indicator on the right grip with a further switch on the right grip to cancel whichever indicator you have selected !!! Again, no doubt that becomes familiar with use but ... well ... why in the first place??!!
