You gotta jack it up, unbolt the shocks, allow the swing arm to swing down enough to pull it out the back.
Oh and take the rear fender off.

Does the tire have to come off? I have the heater running in the shed right now! A bit impulsive that way.

I didn't take my tire off. Just jack it way up and do what Chad said and let the tire drop really low.

Sound fairly simple.Any other tips? I understand the carbs need some form of support. Is it a simple turn buckle sold at hardware stores?

Yes, they need support. A turnbuckle should do the trick.

Dang bubs pipes have to come off as they won't allow clearance for swing arm to rotate down through. They are tight and I don't have a strap wrench.

thats probably going to be too big. I would probably get a piece if plumbers tape, 2 small "J" bolts with 4 nuts. small enough to go through the holes in the plumbers tape. run the plumbers tape over the back bone.
Use the "j" bolts to go under the back spacer bar that where the two carbs are bolted together.
Bend the plumbers tape at right angles leaving about an inch between the bottom of the back bone and the plumbers tape. Double nut the "J" bolts through the plumbers tape ( one nut on each side of the plumbers tape )so that you can adust the "J" bolts up and down as needed to support the carbs properly. do a test fit up then take it apart and pant it all. (not the threads of the bolts).

I can't remember if there's anything else holding it in or if the battery box has to come out. I think I took it out anyway because that was back in '02-03 when I was designing my battery relocation box. If nothing else, take off the airbox top and see if there are any other attachment points.

the two bolts that hold the air box are under the seat

Its out. I loosened the battery box because it was not allowing enough wiggle room to move the air box.I didn't have to take off the fender though.I'm just basking in the glow right now. Next step is ordering pods or better yet find some velocity stacks that will fit.I've never seen that done on a tba.

I saw a Freak Kit on flea bay for $120 sans pods not too long ago. I'll see if I can hunt it down. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Triumph-b...sQ5fAccessories

It's not as daunting as you may think. Take your time. I wound up hacking it up, just couldn't get it out without taking the tire off.
pain is temporary, pride is forever.
