Anyone here into metal detectors?I've been wanting one for a while and I'm about to take the plunge. From my research I think I'll be getting a Garret Ace 250.Seems to be a great entry level machine.Very good reviews and inexpensive.Only $214.00.Thoughts? Comments?

I have the Ace 250 for me and my son to use on the beach, I feel it is a great metal detector at any price, I bought mine from Kellyco.com and they included a lot of little extras. Let me know if you get it and how you like it.

A co worker was into in for a while. Found a lot of trash, ie. nails and bottle caps, a few coins... I'll ask him about it and report back. He might even be interested in selling, since I haven't heard any stories lately. He works the back half of the week, so I won't know anything until Thurs / Fri.

My Dad bought a really expensive "White" back when detectors first became popular, around 1969. He paid $250 for it, back when that was a lot of money! He had a lot of fun with it, and still likes to tell the stories of when he "almost hit the big one".

I built one from a kit when I was around 12. Had a lot of fun with it. Found some jewelry, coins, a couple knives, lots of nails and bottle caps. Never hit it big Sometimes think about getting another Don't think I'd have the time to really enjoy it though.

If I lived in the west, say Arizona, I would definitely have one and I would try to find meteorites in the desert.
