Does anyone know if the design/sizes have changed? Will a cover from a 2003 Speedie fit a 2008 model? TIA

Don't hold me to this, but I'm guessing the fit shoulod be the same as long as the holes line up where the bolts go through.
I though it was an aesthetic change more so than anything else. Check the bolt holes.

Searching the Bike bandit for both model years yields the same part number. Look at the engine covers schematics. http://www.bikebandit.com/2008-triumph-speed-master/o/m17650#sch568997

It will but just curious... why would you want to do that?

I switched my ribbed sprocket cover on my 03 America with the later model smooth cover with no problems.

He obviously wants the GFG, I guess. I swapped mine for the smooth look chrome one.

I bet if the smooth one came out originally in 02, everyone would be switching to the George forman design.
I think theres always a need to change "stock" regardless of the design.

If the smooth one would've come out in 2002, I still would have bought the T-100 cover. It's a far superior design. And nothing else on the bike, except maybe the original rear peg hangers and the head, is finned. If the other engine covers were finned, I would've kept the GFG. Even the fins on the rear peg hangers don't "match." I just don't know what the designers were thinking. Now the second T-100 (Scrambler, actually) cover I bought was for modifying from stock. I need to get around to that soon.

Oh, I like my T100 sprocket cover. I remember when I first saw my bike, it was love at first sight... but I couldn't wrap my head around the GF stuff. It just looked so out of place. It all went bye-bye.

Apologies for the late response, been away from home - work is the curse of the drinking class! Just got a standard (smooth) cover at the moment and like the look of the ribbed one, but I want to have it black nickel plated so don't want to have to fork out for a new chrome one only to then pay for the plating.

I was thinking about grinding the ribs off with a belt sander then using finer and finer sand papre till i got it nice and smooth maybe even some aluminium polish to get it to shine a bit.

The castings are not that great, I polished Wendy's cover and you can see where the ribs were if you look close because the density of the aluminum isn't uniform. It also oxidizes very easily, I fully polished one of my antique Triumph engines, head, and inner cases to a show polish and it didn't take nearly as much work to keep that shiny.

I wonder if any kind of clear coat will stick to it.

or heat it up and dip it into some coal oil to get an antique look.

Don't have a pic of the gray one I offered but it has the stock finish and is not blemished at all. Looks new. I don't want to sell mine though but will trade.

Here is the one I polished for Wendy that used to be a ribbed style. Pix are not very good but it is show quality mirror finish in person. Kind of dirty in the pix. I cut out an oval in mine and did this to it.

I didn't grind the fins off. I just stripped the paint sanded the blemishes out and polished it up to a high shine I think I like it at least for now.

It almost looks like chrome.

Looks more like a brushed finish, which I actually like better than chrome.

I am going to make a battery box and new dash outta aluminium. and try to match the sprocket cover. I am also planning to do the cam cover and fork shrouds and tube to try to get a matched look across the whole bike. If I get tired of the GFG look I may grind the fins off. I just wanted to see how I like it polished up first. I know I hate that ugly grey powder coat with the uneven finish.
