It's about a nut job trying to kill a U.S. congresswoman and succeeding in wounding the congresswoman and killing and wounding several others.
And how there is no responsibility due those who said "If we don't win at the ballot box, we'll get them with the bullet box" and “If Ballots Don’t Work, Bullets Will†and "Don't retreat. Instead — reload!" and "If this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies."

As long as you laugh about it buddy it ok. Just don't laugh alone too much when others are around you could be appearing a little off.

Me neither. I do think some semblance of understanding of the use of metaphors is important when viewing the entire diatribe that went on after last Saturdays horrible events. We cannot as people be suffering from selective amnesia when viewing the constant use of metaphors by politicians of all views.
All we need to do.....is focus on the horror of the act itself and subsist of placing blame where it does not or cannot be placed. What occurred in Tucson was the act of one mentally unbalanced socio-path. It most certainly was not the fault of anyone else or any other individual of any particular persuasion.

Clanrickarde, you said it better than anyone I have heard, or read. We have a very heated national debate about policies, but thats what we do here. I personaly think it is detestable that they are trying to use this tragety as a political . The top players have come out and publicly renounce that behaviour and I give them props for it. To bad the rest can't fall in with them.

Read my post in the most sarcastic tone you can manage.
Rational, intelligent people understand metaphors. Mentally unbalanced people do not.
I think it would be far better if the end result is a more civil dialogue on issues instead of the (metaphorical ) dehumanization and calling for the assassination of ones opponents.

My new one yeah, but real country music not the pop stuff they seem to play on the radio these days.
He's asking about the old one. I just changed it a couple days ago. Ian got it.

Well said there, Kevin. I agree with almost everything you said there, EXCEPT the very last sentence. And here's why....
In this past Sunday's[January 16th, 2011] edition of the The Arizona Republic there was an article about the shooter's life history. And, within that article it stated that on September 29th 2010, two Pima Community College Campus Police officers hand delivered a Notice of Suspension and read it aloud to both Loughner AND his father in his father's garage. And, those same campus police officers were evidently worried enough about having to deliver this notice that they had asked a Tucson police unit be located in the vicinity "just in case". The notice has been issued because of many previous episodes in which Loughner had disrupted classes in which he had attended at that community college, and because more than one instructor there had felt "uneasy" with Loughner in their classes.
And so, just as my first little "diatribe" in this thread suggests about the responsibility that PARENTS have in their offspring's actions, and because Loughner's father KNEW of his son's mental problems(once again, the guy was standing right next to his son when the officers read this notice and the REASONS for the issuance of this notice), and so then WHAT EXACTLY was the reason for his father to not IMMEDIATELY AFTER those officers left that garage to say to his son at THAT time somethin' like..."Son, you seem to be having some kind of major issues here, and the first thing TOMORROW, I'm taking YOU to see a SHRINK! And there'll be no ands, ifs or buts here, you understand?!" And, to then carry through with that plan?
I mean, even though the "kid" is 22 years old, it was NOT as if his son lived on the other side of town in some apartment somewhere and that he didn't know what kind of shape his son's mental health was in, RIGHT?! The "kid" lived right in the same house!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Props to you Dwight, for staying tuned to the facts. The parents work for some level of government around there and the boy got away with some stuff that would have landed one of us in jail. The sherif could be held to a degree responsible too

After such a tragic event as this it is a really sad commentary (in hindsight) that the news media instead of reporting the news (what they knew), they instead injected parts of this story to fit what they wanted. I know they do this all the time, but that doesn't make it right.
Life isn't Black or White, it is multiple shades of gray with some color thrown in.

I've always said that principles are black and white; life is a huge grey area. Principles are rarely adhered to 100%, but that's what makes us human.

Well Dwight left out something interesting. This murderer was concerned with the government using grammer to control our minds. Why would our resident grammer police leave out such a detail.
