The 3rd Annual Lochinver Pie Run
22nd - 25th April 2011

A few of you will know what this tour entails, for the uninitiated and for the new members to this forum we have here a small tour to the north west of Scotland.

Pam and I usually set off after work on the Thursday and head north towards Durham/Northumberland and stay in a B&B overnight (as yet location not decided).

Then on the Friday its the ride to Ullapool http://www.ullapool.co.uk/
Via
A68 Carter Bar, Jedburgh, Lauder, Dalkeith.
A720 road around Edinburgh with lunch at South Queens Ferry.
M90 Perth.
A9 Pitlochry, Kingussie, Avemore, Inverness.
A835 Ullapool.

Friday and Saturday nights in Ullapool http://www.ullapool.co.uk/accommodation4.html
For those wishing to camp Ullapool boasts a marvellous camp site beside Loch Broom. http://www.ullapool.co.uk/accommodation3.html

The Saturday's ride will be to the Lochinver pie shop on some of this country's finest and most scenic roads. Lunch will be at the pie shop. http://www.piesbypost.co.uk/

For some Sunday is the ride home, me and Pam on the other hand will be riding down the coastal road A832
via Gruinard Bay, Poolewe, Gairloch, past the beautiful Loch Maree to Kinlochewe. Then we take the A896 through the mighty Glen Torridon, Shieldaig, around the Applecross peninsular to Lochcarron, and if anyone cares to join us on this leg you are most welcome. We shall take accommodation in Lochcarron

Then Monday the ride home

Nice one Steve.
All going to plan (ie. as long as the road isn't snowbound like last year) I'll meet up with you all at Carrbridge.
Hopefully the snow will be gone by then and it will be a bit bl**dy warmer this time.
Took me a week to thaw from last year.
Are we going to be staying at the same hotel as last year, or is that something that can be sorted out nearer the time?
See you there. Hopefully we will have a bigger turnout than last year.
P.S. Don't bring any BBQ fluid, you know what Ivan's like.

Good on ya Colin

Yes it was a bit chillsome last time around Colin, we had the e-co friendly rooms if you remember brrrrr. I'll give em a ring and find out what the score is because apart from that small hiccup the venue was excellent, mmmmmmm whisky for breakfast.

Yes it would be good to see some new faces up north.

Don't worry the BBQ fluid stays at home this trip, although it WILL be at the farmyard party Yeee Haaa.

If the snow gates are playing up again Colin we shall meet at Inverness "same procedure as last year".

No problem Steve, Carrbridge or Inverness it is, depending on the snow.
Watch out for the road conditions up north (the real north) there are some big potholes after all that snow and ice, unlikely that the council will have got them all fixed by then.

Ivan, Glad to hear your on this one again mate. See you all up north.

Steve is up for it again as is my mate Sean (he came to see us at Triumph Live). Sean has booked the Royal but they said it is getting booked up due to the MX5 (hairdressers)meet (remember last year). I'm booking up tomorrow. Flicked a mail out to Alex, Chris, Paul and Phil to see if they fancy it.

Went on a rideout to Scarborough today - almost as cold as the trip last year. Extra 3 weeks will make a big difference - will be taking some suncream and me trunks!

Yeah room booked, forgot to ask about the eco-friendly ones, oh well just have to hope that I get one (not).
Hear the rooms are getting taken by strange MX-5 type group that were there last year.

Steve. Me and Jools won't be making it this year . I am off to the Classic Bike Show at Stafford and it clashes with the Pie Run.

If anyone out there is still pondering about this trip, then please get in touch.

I've enclosed a link for B&B's hotels etc, and don't forget Easter is late this year.

Like Steve says Easter's near the end of April this year. Weather up here is usually real good that time of year. So come on folks, get your names in, good ride, great company, fantastic weather, wonderful pies. What you waiting for?

It's a balmy 12*C up here today folks, which, as all who were on this run last year can testify, is about 16*C warmer than this time last year.
Long may it continue.

I not counting any chickens at the moment Colin. I am sure my lid is connected to a shower chain. I swear, as soon as I put in on it starts to rain.

Sean (T'Bird), Alex (Tiger) and Steve (Yammy XJR) coming up with me.

Yabba Dabba Doooooo

We need to decide where we going to meet en-route. Me and Pam will be travelling up the same route as last year minus the snow "me hopes".

Here's to a "GOOD UN"

Ride Smart

"FANTASTIC WEEKEND" we all agree and I'm glad you all enjoyed it so much. Next year we are going for a new venue folks it will be down as " THE APPLECROSS OYSTER RUN " still on the West coast of Scotland at Easter 2012
