Hi Folks. Been thinking of changing out the stock pipes on my 2010 Speedmaster. I was pretty serious about the Staintunes until I saw the latest prices! They went up by nearly $300 US!!

So, since I don't want pipes that are very loud (I leave home around 0500 hrs), and I want long slash cuts I have spent a fair amount of time listening to various sound clips, many of which are too loud for my liking.

I have stumbled across Trident Exhaust in the UK

CLICKY

I haven't been very successful in digging up any info on their products. Anybody have any experience with these pipes that they'd like to share?

The price looks reasonable, they are stainless steel, and have removable baffles, and are almost long slash cuts.

Thoughts?

H.

Search around here in the exhaust section, the owner of Trident did some threads here a while back, and another member posted video of his bike with the Trident exhaust. Sounded pretty good to me!

Ahh, thanks! Found it...

Some links are dead, but the sound clips still work.

Any more input on these pipes?

Hi Harry.....Here in London, Inglis Cycle has a set of Bubs on the wall for a price of $430's. Let me know if I can help you.

Hey Don! Thanks for the offer, but Bubs are just too loud for me. The police/officials are getting cranky with m/c exhaust noise in these parts, so I'm trying to get something that is rated under 92 db. So far, the Trident's fit that bill. Bub's pipes haven't responded to my query yet, and the Staintunes are just insanely priced these days otherwise I would have bought those.

I'm telling you, get some Specialty Spares long cannons and add more material to customize the sound to your taste. Mine were a tad too quiet, so I removed some packing to tweak it a bit. Still significantly quieter than my neighbors Deuce with baffled Vance & Hines pipes. SS is priced right and mine look as new after 40k.

Were these the pipes that had the baffles that didn't fit the pipe? Hard to remember.

I seem to remember you having heated discussions with Trident about that, yes.

I still have all the pix I used to prove my point in that discussion. I remember the guy trying to cloud the issue by using a lot of technical terms that didn't hold water as related to a baffle that didn't fit the pipes.

Got a set of racing cans from them for my T3 Sprint S... Love the look, love the fit , looooooove the sound.... if I did not have the totally awesome Scepters on my Bonnie-A then I would consider buying from the Trident guys.... they have good stuff from my experience but have heard good things about D&D and bub too......
um, no... my cans from Trident did not come with the baffle..

Thanks for the input. I don't like loud pipes, and after much research, I decided to go with long slash cut TORs which is a good compromise for me. I also wasn't impressed with the baffle arrangement in the Tridents for the Speedmaster/America.

Just to be clear, I never questioned the quality of the pipe itself just that the baffles didn't fit. Members had to use washers or extra nuts to make up the space. The baffles just kind of flopped around inside, they were not even close to a snug fit in the pipe.

Yeah, no problem. I didn't like the fit of the baffles and the loudness reported by some. I wasn't questioning the quality/fit of the exhaust system, of which is supposed to be very good. If I didn't have a requirement to be relatively quiet (I leave for work at 0500 hrs), and police are clamping down on loud exhausts, I would have purchased this system.
