I am trying to find a sissybar and small lugage rack that loks good and is capable of holding my sissybar bag. I currently have a Tall Triumph sissybar and rack, but dont care for the style. Are there other companies that make a sissy bar and rack specifically for the Triumph America? Has anybody modified one of the many Harley sissybars to make it fit your bike? What modifications had to be made?
Thanks for any help

You can go "old school" without having one made. Mine is a 70s era trident shaped sissy bar, but any sissy bar of the same width will work. I don't have that measurement, but I'll check it when I get home. It is attached using brackets off a 01 HD Nighttrain, but the brackets for any soft tail of that era will work. The brackets had to be cut and drilled, but that was easily done with hand tools most guys already have in there garage (grinder/dremel and a drill). These are the only pictures I have that I have access too right now. I'll post better pics later if you want.

You and I operate on the same budget apparently. The parts were purchased on ebay for cheap. The sissy bar was less than $50 shipped (the pad needed to be recovered, but I had the leather for that already), and the side plates were around $25. The trick is to watch ebay and wait for the right deal to pop up. I'll post some better pics of the set up later.

Nuthin, That is the type of mounting setup that I was looking for. So, it sounds like the softtail side plates are the ones to buy with some modification needed, and then just measure the width for the right sissy bar.
Thanks,
Mat

Is anyone using an aftermarket (Harley or otherwise) sissybar with the Triumph sissybar's brackets?

FJ I have a set of Triumph brackets that I picked up for that purpose, but I couldn't find a HD bar that would fit. In my opinion the HD side plates look better because they slide between the fender and the support arms. Its just a much cleaner look.

There aren't a lot of options for the Speedmaster/America regarding aftermarket sissy bars and/or racks.
The one at newspeedmaster.com isn't available any longer.
There's one sold in the UK that I believe actually are made for a Honda VT125 or some such thing that fit our bikes. There's also someone down under that makes one to fit our bikes but the pages are bookmarked on my other computer. I'll have to dig them up later.

Hi all, We will make sissy bars with or without racks to your specification. The one listed in our eBay shop is a suggestion we made for a customer. We are currently making a tubular one with rack and removable pad for a VL. If anyone has an idea but not sure how to go about it let me know, as always I'll be happy to help where I can...
Mike.
