Hi, Hope you can help.
I may have missed something, and seem to be reading conflicting information. My AI removal kit has arrived, and I just want to calrify some details before proceeding with fitting:
As I understand it, once the AI is REMOVED, the exhaust gasses will not be as lean, and will therefore be cooler, and less bluing will occur.
Will this increase or decrease the exhaust 'popping'?
Will it make any difference, good or bad, to economy?
Do you know of any 'walkthrough' instructions / photos, as the details supplied with my kit are rather spartan? I plan to refer to haynes book, but wondered if anyone had done a walkthrough set.
Can you clarify the correct torque for the studs?
Thanks for your help with this!
The tank and seat etc will be coming off over xmas regardless, I have a bunch of wiring etc to run through, for the heated grips / Scottoiler / tomtom and so on.
My exhaust is already quite blued, I need to look into how I sort that out separately.
Thanks again
Ben

Ben, What year bike do you have? I have been told it's not recommended for EFI Bikes. Easy removal, not sure where you got it but I can send you some instructions, send me your e-mail. I doubt Haynes has it. Should not affect the fuel consumption/economy. Popping...not sure if that is the culprit for that always thought that more related to the exhaust when you change that. There are products that work fairly well to remove bluing. eddy

First off, is your bike EFI? If so, the recommendation is that AI removal doesn't produce any significant results and is not recommended. If carbed, try this: http://www.friarsride.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Ghetto.pdf.There is a video on a Thruxton AI removal above the mentioned discussion. A lot of differences, but can give you some ideas. Hope it helps.

It's easy enough to remove and I have an '07 865 America. The only trick part for me was removing the "tube" and the funky connectors attached to it. As I recall, you'll use needle nose pliars for those suckers. One nick'd me good and I bled a little on top of the engine. If Eddy's instructions don't help, drop me a PM and I'll see if I still have mine (w/torque settings). Good Luck & Merry Christmas !!
