Hi all, Thought some of you may be interested in this Tool Roll I just bought off ebay. It appears to be excellent quality leather, well made, good size, fairly water tight (can be improved by myself) and not an outrageous price considering the quality. Just be aware of the postage costs which can trap some if you are not used to ebay. Triumph Tool RollMerry Xmas stacka

Hi guys, yes Keith that's the one. It's one of the best I've seen to be honest, and thanks for the compliment Steve. Actually like all of us, it can be a bit of a gamble on what we get when we buy online. In saying that I have very rarely been disappointed with my purchases. The info on this one for instance stacks up nicely as they have provided quality photos withhigh megapixel which gives a good idea of what they are selling. My only concern would be how water resistant the tool roll is. Looking close up it appears there is a pretty good seal around the openings but my tools are in good canvass zip up bag so that should help in keeping my tools dry. If need be I can still look at the option of improving that area quite easilly anyway. Until I've ridden through some wet weather I won't know exactly though. The other thing is, and I'm not being racist here but in terms of craftsmanship, I'd easilly put my money down on Indian rather than Chinese leatherwork. I've got no proof but in this case I can vision some small factory of bloke or women doing what they do best. For some reason I don't picture Chinese being as good in this area. Anyway, time will tell won't it. I'll certainly let you all know how it turns out though. Geez the tool roll does look nice though. I just had to have it. Think I've got the disease many of us on here have actually. I tell you though, if that's the worst disease I ever get I'm going to be fine.

Well I must admit, that's one handsome tool bag. I just checked into getting one sent here and after shipping it should cost around $100 CAD. Not too bad, especially if one is smitten by the thing, which I am starting to become!

Gee thanks Frank. Looks like I got ripped compared to that one you've given a link to. Them's the breaks I suppose. Regardless, even at the price I got mine for I still think I got a bargain. Keith, if you do bid just beware of the lurkers out there. Mind you mate, it's not like they are one of a kind or anything so you'll pic one up eventually if you do find like me you have to have one. Good luck if you bid. Actually, I might watch it to see what happens.

Isn't that the case?? There is always a better price somewhere...but who wants to spend forever looking for it. Call the shot, make the purchase and forget what it could have been. The product and happiness is in your hand.
Oh, by the way, I just purchased a new Chevy Equinox this spring when demand was at an all time high. If I would have waited 3 weeks, I would have been able to take advantage of the Employee Discounts offered by GM. Could have saved $3800 bucks. Should have, could have, would have.....blah blah blah.
That is a nice looking tool role!

Hi Greg, good point buddy. I like you're optimism and saying it the way it is. Certainly put it into perspective for me so thanks for that. I also get the feeling that the sellers will look at a market, determine demand and from it determine a price. We may think it's one price for all but we all know it works on demand. For instance the link Frank inserted gave a price in "C" which I suspect was Canadian Dollars, not AUD. Because it's winter over there and Summer over here, perhaps to remove as much stock as possible prices are worked along those lines. I may be talking a load of rubbish (it's happened before ), but the difference in price really didn't add up in my books without being a reason behind it. Whatever, as you say we all can get caught up in this thing of searching, looking blah blah blah, time time time. Just buy it and enjoy it. Yep. I like it. Thanks

Thought you guys might be interested in a couple of pics of a cordura tool roll I bought from Eddy (FES) to go into the Leather Triumph Tool roll. The fit is near on perfect and I didn't have to leave out any tool of significance. I did put the cordura roll in a clip lock plastic bag to ensure the tools stay dry though.

Stacka, I was thinking about buying one of these Triumph bags, but they went and jacked the price up by 50%!! In the middle of the listing period. When I asked why, they gave an excuse about making a listing mistake. They lost me as a customer.
I'll stick with my existing generic fork bag that's considerably bigger than this one. And I bought it from Eddy a couple of years ago, just before my accident.
That tool roll that Eddy sells looks interesting. Nicely organized and beats having some tools just sitting in there (in an oiled cloth for corrosion protection).
Thanks mate!!

I'd have to see an old stocker, but can that be TRIUMPH'S source for the rubber front fender brake Cable Guides that broke so early in our bike's lives? Look in the accessories section...and I like that Universal Military Flag Rod, too, and for the money? Buletwala Universal Military Flag Rod for Bikes/Cars

Hear is another similar bag. A little bigger if you need the room. I emailed them, and yes, they can/will customize it to say whatever you want, i.e., "Bonneville Speedmaster", or just "Triumph Speedmaster", or just simply "Triumph" if you prefer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TRIUMPH-B...s#ht_6207wt_995

That bag fits our forks okay, right? The straps are long enough and positioned correctly for our forks?
(I would hate to buy it and find it fits vintage bikes but not a modern big fork like ours.)

Yes Keith, the straps are long enough to fit our forks with the fork tubes. I've put mine in a different spot below though which I'll post pics of later for comment, good or bad.

I just re-read your post Greg and it made me think about that balance between enjoying a certain part of our lives now ie. Buying things we love for one of our favourite hobbies ( our bikes and the pleasure they provide ) and waiting for some time in the future. Yes it is a compromise, like I waited a year looking at that bike stand knowing it was a lot to pay but now I'm thinking how much less I worked around my bike knowing the bending over would leave me ended up lying in bed with back pain. Now I can keep my back straight and enjoy hours working on Ferdie. I fully understand how important it is to live life while we have it in other words, so excellent Point you brought up. Now stacka, you've talked for long enough. The question was asked whether the tool roll straps were long enough for our fork tubes and my answer was yes but here's a pic of where I've mounted mine. Now I'm not saying this preferred spot is going to work in the long term cos as fast Eddy pointed out, if there was any concern it would have to be them being 2" away from the fork headers and whether the heat will be an issue. My gut feeling is the tool roll will be fine provided I keep the leather conditioner up to it which I'm all about anyway. On the positive side of this preferred location is, i like the idea of the tool roll taking the brunt of any any stray foreign road debris taking the brunt which can be fixed easier compared to the oil cooler or other parts of our motors, and quite simply I prefer the look of it there as opposed to up on the forks. You'll also notice a new mud flap I put on before mounting the roll as I want to protect as much as I can from a stray rock or two. I don't know what happens in other countries but in Aus, if you are riding the Better bike roads ie. the smaller, more scenic and twistier variety, you can bet your house on it that you'll come across some road works. What this means is, the old bitumen has been torn up leaving a section of gravel and dirt just waiting to create havoc with your nice clean and recently washed pride and joy. Now I can deal with the water tanker making sure he does his sweep prior tonyou being given the green light, causing s*it from ars*hole to breakfast time but I draw a line against those rocks smashing into my Ferdie's undercarriage or worse.

Thanks Keith. I like that spot myself but it's untested for now. I think it'll be fine there but I'll know soon enough cos I leave for my Bi-Annual trip north on Monday. Thanks for the compliment.

I have my tool bag in a similar location and while it is a very good spot it is very exposed to the elements. To address this I have taken my tool kit and used one of those vacuum food sealers to hermitically seal the tools. Then into the leather bag they go. doesn't take up any extra space and you just cut the bag if you have to use the tools (which you hopefully do not) rebag at home again. No rusty or dirty tools.
I also ran a black plastic cable under the leather mounting straps (can't see it) as sort of a back up and to take load off the leather so it doesn't stretch and sag when you ride in the rain.

Thanks for the info Micah. I have put the tool roll with the tools in it, that i bought off Eddy and placed them in a large clip lock sealed bag that has been rolled round the tool bag several times. It then sits in the leather tool roll fitted to Ferdie. I haven't got one of those vacuum sealed things so my option will have to do for now. I'm well aware the leather tool roll will get a belting from the elements so I've spent several hours rubbing dubbin and another water proof leather conditioner into the leather to keep it in good nick till next clean up time. The other thing I decided to do was wrap a black belt round the tool roll and the engine crash bars to prevent the tool roll moving. I found it impossible to tighten the leather straps to the point of the roll being totally solid at their mountings but the leather belt worked well to sort out that issue. Unfortunately the belt covers part of the TriumPh logo but nothing's perfect. The other part I'm happy about is putting on the mud flap which I've been wanting to do for some time but it required me taking off the front wheel to do it properly. Btw, a while ago I bought some mud flaps off eBay for a few of us on here but the quality wasn't up to scratch IMHO. Apologies to anyone who bought one and thought similarly too but I should have realised $10 would only buy rubbish.
