Just had a huge spend on ebay this evening... Having decided (finally) against buying a winter hack, and that I'm going to use the triumph, I've been splashing out on some goodies that I'm looking forward to getting fitted!
- a Scottoiler esystem and some spare lube.. - Oxford heated grips - Oxford Muffs (I know, but when it's minus 5 I dont care what I look like!) - Two cans of ACF50 - a brush thingy to clean the chain - a handlebar clock - some felt bobbins for the dremel, for experimentation with cleaning up the bluing on my headers. not sure but worth a couple of quid
Still to come:
I want a paddock stand or equivalent jack.. and a europe-wide GPS for the bike. Suggestions on both welcome, and I'll see how my thoughts line up!
;-)
fun times..

I like the look of the blueing on the header pipes. but I am wierd I guess. Heated grips sound good though. When I was a teen I worked at a diner, and we would hold ice in our hands and then place the ice filled hand into the sterilizer water which was just under boiling. This was cool because you could not feel the water or the ice. It would still leave you with a burn if you left your hand in to long. my point is I guess that the heated grips should work pretty good.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

cool...
I've also bought, for experimentation purposes, a pair of hand protectors from a BMW R1200GS.. these apparently will go straight onto a tiger and many other bikes, and I'm gonna have a play with a view to fitting for the winter..

I don't think there is a way to remove the blueing with out mucking up the finish. The Blueing a chemical reaction caused by the heat. If you buff the exhaust enough you'll buff right through the chrome plating, I've seen products advertised to remove the blueing, but they also state they are abrasive and leave the chrome satin rather than mirror.
But ifyou use the felt bobbins with some metal polish, you'll have the shiniest headers in town!

To me, blueing of the header pipes was something which was always present on most of my old brit bikes. I dont mind it at all personally... Oh and my old /6 Bmw's also did it-as apparently did the one in bits I've just bought.....

I always get a kick out of receiving bits for the bike especially when they come in at different times.....Christmas over and over.
I personally don't mind the look of blueing on the pipes of the Bonnies but if you are seeing it on the BAs and Speedys with double wall pipes, you are probably running too hot and too lean.
