I've got a pair of Hippo Hands collecting dust somewhere in my pile of motorcycle junk. I'll stick with my full fairing & heated grips, thanks. lol

black ice on 2 wheels is painful.
If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

you guys should drink more alcohol.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Crimey Friar that is brilliant. Good find. Been thinking of a winter bike, I have a Yam XT500 setting over there under a tarp. Now you got me looking for a carb.

You guys must be on a death wish. You seriously don't ride in the snow. The one time in my life I experienced snow and ice, I could'nt even walk down the footpath without hangin on to something.

Oh I wouldnt ride on an icy or even snow covered road. We dont get a lot of snow here. 20 maybe 30 scattered days through the winter. Other than that its just cold and the deicer and sand they put down. Would not take my pretty America or top heavy Tiger out on those roads. But I would take an old XT500 (that nobody wants) to town to pick up a case of Keystones. A barn door screen and those boots, wouldnt that be a sight.

Yeah, it's usually just cold around here. We get a smattering of snow early on and it doesn't go away until May. Although we had fresh snow last June!

Cold around here is 50 and 40s. Sorta funny as the talking heads run special news segments on how to prepare. omg. when the temps turn moderate, at least I get to where a decent jacket. AND I can say I road in snow and black ice this past September for miles at ridiculous elevations whilst snow flurries whirled round one scared sheetless lone rider. Yep Friar, indelible is a word eh?

Just let me know where this karma guy lives and I will pay him a late night visit.
On the bright side, the weather guessers reckon it will blow over in about a week.

i dont miss winter riding one little bit. i lived in michigan for a number of yrs and there were times when the only transportation i had was my bike. i remember once leaving a 2nd shift job when the weather had turned cold but the roads were clear and dry. i had to take the highway to get where i was going and at one point had to get off the east/west to go south, the cloverleaf type entrance to it was great, a sweet sweeping curve that got tight as you came out of it and was always fun (one of the only serious twisties in the area) so i was used to hammering down thru this curve. well what i didnt know that night, was that a watermain had broke and had flooded that curve and darn if it hadnt frozen over. i know you can guess what happened next, yep, the bike went one way and i went the other, i didnt think i was ever gonna stop sliding. there were cars traveling in the southbound lanes and how nobody ran over my bike i will never know. i was able to get up run over to it, pick it up and ride it home. the bike and i were virtually unscathed. i never took any winter riding for granted after that. clear roads or not i was always prepared for what could happen, blind curves were always taken with a little more caution hahahahaha but i remember stuffing magazines under my jeans to cover my shins and newspaper in my jacket to protect my chest. the best pair of gloves i ever owned were Air Force issue wool with leather over. even wore them when i was ice racing on the lake and they always kept my hands comfortable. NOW?? for crying out loud 50f and i am going home. when it go's from 80 to 50 thats a 30 degree drop, ITS COLD hahahaha think about it, you guys up north when it drops 30 or 40 degrees in a day, say 50 to 20, admit it, its cold. nope i dont miss winter riding at all!!!
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Driving home from work last night near midnight, and it was around freezing and I heard that familiar HD sound racing up from behind me, and then blowing past me a Gyspsy Joker with ape hangers, no windshield, no scarf, a shorty helmet and glasses probably doing 70 mph. It was one of the coldest things I'd seen in awhile. Brrrr.... On the other hand it least it was dry. ~Brent

Errrrrr Keith tell that to an asthmatic having an asthma attack.
Possibly using an inhaler might be a good place to start then you might get a chuckle out of them.
