Sat on the back patio having breakfast this morning waiting for the rain to clear. Some of the local bird life came down for their breakfast. Rainbow Lorikeets looking a bit damp after all the rain. That is awesome Frank. I've never really been sure I would like to Visit Australia due to all the things there that can kill you in like 2 minutes, but I may have to reconsider. You guys from down under always post cool things that I would like to see in person.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Hi Dave, We do have a lot of things that can make you a little sick if they bite you. Also we have learned to avoid the Harley riders that can make you very sick at times. Redback Spiders, Funnelweb Spiders & Snakes to name a few. In general they aren't a problem. Snakes are more frightened of you than you are of them. The beauty in the bird life far outweighs the nasties.

You know you are doing something right when the native birds come and visit.

Nice pics. It would be awesome to see such colorful birds regularly. We don't see that kind of beauty in birds here in the middle of the states.

Wow, beautiful. All we have here in Maryland are Cardinals (now) and Hummingbirds (summer)..... I did snap a hummingbird in the garage last summer, he was trapped and exhausted. I caught him and let him recover, off he whirred. That's all I got here in pedestrian Maryland....

Although not usually a breakfast visitor. This is a Tawny Frogmouth that usually spends his days in a small tree in the bottom of the garden. [image] [/image]

You're right about the beauty outweighing the nasties! My son hiked the Bibbulmun Track a couple of years ago and sent me some really great pictures.

In regards to Greg's recent comment that snow comes in two colours... might I provide the following for educational purposes.
Firstly, and as the sign illustrates...
It is however, okay to drink it.
I hope that last one doesn't make you chunder, Frank!

Nice photos Richard, I just couldn't get a clear shot of the Owl in our garden. It loves sitting in the low branches where it's shady.

John, being a snowbird is a state of mind, not an age group.

Ah, cheer up there, John. Maybe your spirits might fly a little higher if you listen to this little ditty sung by a nice Canadian girl who's evidently feelin' the same way you're feelin' right now... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2VYP0FCAUE
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Are those birds big enought to fry up for dinner
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.
