Going to take in the "Marfa Lights"? Spent a week in that area of Texas a few years back. Stayed in Ft Davis traveled around to Marfa, Alpine, Valentine. There is a loop out of Ft Davis that is a nice, scenic ride. Met some good folks in that area. There is a restaurant on the outskirts of Ft Davis that has great burgers and fries.

Enjoy your trip.

Mike

Rode through Marfa on our last trip to Big Bend. We took 67 down to Presidio for a nice Mexican breakfast, and then took the river road into Big Bend State park. The river road is an incredible ride...

Nice riding country is an understatement. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth, and the roads, oh man, the roads twist through canyons following the rocky ridge lines. The river road in the pic above follows the rio grande. That's Mexico on the left. We were literally throwing rocks into Mexico after I took that picture!

I went through Marfa, Texas once with a Triumph in December, 1981. Only the Triumph was riding in the back of a 1972 GMC 6 cyl, 3 on-the-tree pickup. Nice country for sure. I remember seeing cattle being moved with a helicopter, I believe somewhere around Alpine .

Hmmmm. Lucky for you, I guess the Cartel over there must've been elsewhere that day, huh?!

(...or else, of course, you just might've received some kind'a "return fire"!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I throw like a 3 year old girl, so I'm pretty sure the only "return fire" I had to worry about was laughter...

I'm hoping Hill comes back with plenty of pics. I don't have the funds to take any long trips this year, so I have to go on virtual road trips through the pictures on this forums like this.
