It must be the I-81 curse. I stopped at the "Riders World" dealership today in Scranton, PA just off I-81 and found they are no longer selling Triumphs. The sign is still up, but no sign inside. The service manager said the dealership is being sold and the new owner could possibly reinstate Triumph. We lost "Winchester Motorsports" in VA earlier this year, also a stones throw off I-81. I may never get to see a Rocket Roadster in the flesh!

Sign of the times , but it's somewhat localized I think , there's a Harley dealer in Newnan Ga. advertising for sales associates . Go figure.

Do you work at Dunder Mifflin paper company? Triumph does nothing to promote its self as a brand they will go away again if they dont start advertising. There are three dealerships around here and I still get "they still make those?"

At least this one has a shot at coming back. I kind of feel sorry for folks in this area. The nearest Triumph dealership has to be hours away (Penn State? or Hermy's?)

The majority of Triumph dealerships have service departments that are let's say lacking? So losing a stealership although dismaying is meaningless for those that refuse to have our steeds buggered up by underpaid overworked stealership wrenches. And being as most stealerships require that you prepay for parts then ride to them to get the parts, that too is a mute point as long ago I learned that parts can be delivered to my door. Bike bandit is one. Second Wind Triumph in NH is another. I get supporting the local dealerships and motorsickle shops. Yet one word is lacking in most stealership's lexicons: Reciprocity. Now that the caffeine rant is over with, anyone wanna ask what I think of stealerships?

Uh, sure Moe, am I to understand that ya don't have good expereinces with dealerships? I'm unlucky that every dealership in the area is two hundred miles away, in any direction. Fortunately, my local dealer/friend is only 50 miles away, and he was an "old time" small dealer of Triumphs and Guzzi's, who let the official dealership stuff go, but retains a crackerjack mechanic, who can fix about anything. So I just order parts, (which is rare) and have him do the hard lifting for me, while I settle down to a cold beer and good food in the back with the other regulars. It's a cycle people dream come true.

I hear you Rich. I used to be fortunate to have Paul Reunion down in Melbourne wrench on my rides. Then those dern boys up in Newnan hiring him away and left me with squat. Really that was a good thing being as I went ahead and tooled up to change tires. And it keep me from being so lazy!

Four of the closer Triumph dealers in the area have gone away in the last 3 years, with two new ones replacing them. The closer of the two (50 miles), Triumph Motorcycles of Orlando, I have never been to. I try to avoid Orlando as much as possible, but sometime over the next year I'll have to cruise over there and at least check them out.
It is nice having a Triumph dealer close, but not really a requirement for me.

Here in South Texas, we have two dealerships. One is a loser and not very friendly, even to prospective buyers. The other, in Austin, is better, but by only the thin margin and mostly just to the prospective buyer. Both also sell beemers. I don't see them trying to really support their riders, leaving you with that "lonely" feeling after you've bought something. Could do a lot more to sell their machines. When I go to the local Hardly dealers with friends, of course they are right on top to sell something, but will also at least try the side approach and engage people with talks of rides and and other news. The other bike dealers are pretty much in the Hardly corner that way as well. When I go to the Triumph dealers (either one) I don't even get the feeling they ride. MHO.

Yep, wifey & I went to Vegas last month (stayed at Mirage) while there , rented a car, visited my old school (Bertha Ronzoni elementary) and went past my old house AND went by the Triumph dealer......it had closed its doors the day before...went to the Arlen Ness shop...seemed like real great folks...I'm thinking they will be a good Triumph dealer....seemed to like bikes.....not always present with some dealers

My son bought his Daytona at Hermy's and he was great to. My son's in the Marines, while he was oveerseas the waranty went out by a couple of weeks by the time he got back and it had a problem but Hermy's fixed it under warranty for him. He also has helped him out with other little things on his way to and from N.C. filerj

British USA here in HOuston is a pretty good dealership. I enjoy visiting with them when I get the chance. we have another one here in Houston and one out in Katy. The Katy guys are pretty cool but the one called Eximports south of Houston toward Sugarland is a bunch of snobs.

I'm guessing the sign for "sales associates wanted" isn't because sales are through the roof, most likely the economy being what it is their salesmen couldn't make a living.
I'm just lucky, hearing all this negative comments about dealerships. My dealer is Engle Motors ( BMW $ Triumph )in Kansas City, every employ there calls me by my first name. I've never since 1965 prepaid for a parts order, even for T140 parts. We are all adults here, some times you have to put a hand out. Just like in politics, business and your personal life. Let's face it salesmen are strange folks, some stand back, some are on you like a cheap suit. I prefer the ones who leave me alone till I ask for help.
The parts & service counter is different I like it when they tell you about all the new stuff in or coming.
