Hi all,

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere on this site but after having searched I can't seem to find any definitive info on the subject.

I currently have an '07 Speedmaster and have seen a couple of good deals recently here on BA.com as well as other places on some '09/'10 Speedys and am seriously considering "upgrading", if that's what that would be.

What is the general consensus here as to the pros and cons of the new EFI bikes as opposed to the '07 and earlier carburated ones?

Also, would the later '09/'10 models accept the Scepter pipes and Freak kit I have on my '07 without any remapping or would that and some sort of power manager be necessary?

anything and everything you do the the newer one will require remapping the fuel delivery ..
make all the mods ... and use the dyno to complete should be on sweet ride when you finish ..

i like the older tank better.

We have an '07 and a 2010 Speedmaster. Besides the tank difference (we like the '07 tank better), the EFI is a good choice. Bigger tank on the EFI models (19.5 litres). The torque curve is different between the carb and EFI models. Max torque on the EFI bike is at much lower RPM, and is more usable for me.

Thanks for the input. I rode a 2010 today and actually noticed the difference...felt a lot torquier in lower gears and very smooth. The Triumph Off Roads also even sounded good...though not half a good as my Scepters!

I forgot to mention, that you'd also need a remap if you changed the pipes. I'm not sure if the Scepters will fit.

You can change the remap yourself if you have a laptop, and buy a cable and get some FREE software.

Yes, the low-down torque on the EFI bikes is very noticable, and is very useful when riding 2-Up in hilly terrain that's here in BC
