I've changed handle bars and had to use a longer cable. I want to make sure i get it adjusted right, how much free play and any other suggestions. Thanks

From the service manual:
Adjustment is correct when 2-3 mm of free play is present between the clutch lever and it's mounting bracket.

A good starting point is just enough tension to close the gap between the lever and perch when you let off the clutch.
Outside a dog a book is a mans best friend, inside a dog it's to dark to read.

FYI 1mm is about than 1/16"... so about 1/8-3/16" is a good starting point.

Use the adjustment on the bottom (trans) end of the cable for your regular adjustments. Keep the one by the lever turned in all the way and only use it for slight adjustments. Makes your cable last longer.
