Well I just got my tank back from the painter so I mounted it up.No more dash and a long narrow look...

I think I like the dash better. I am not a fan of the swing arm mounted fender but it works on your bike, nice clan looking machine. Even though I do like the dash better you have a sharp bike there.

That is a different look for these bikes for sure.Isnt that simply a bonny tank? The white walls really work on that!

You have a great looking bike Dennis, but the new tank is just a lateral move. I think it looked just as good before with the original tank. I really like what you've done to it, the new tank does fit the style of the bike better.

Great looking bike, the white walls work well with the overall look. I would have been skeptical with the cast wheels but it really works.
Are those Kuryakyn turn signal mirrors? How do they compare to the stock mirrors as far as visibility and vibration are concerned? I've been considering a set for my BA but I've always had vibration issues with aftermarket mirrors in the past, I hate to fork over that kind of money without asking someone who's using them on the same bike I have first.

Maybe this belongs in a different thread, but these are advertised to nullify handlebar vibration, might work for mirrors?

They're either Kuryakyn or RIVCO mirrors (which one Dennis?). I have the RIVCO version and assure you vibration is NOT an issue. Btw... RIVCO mirrors have the running light feature, and rider's side blinkers over the Kuryakyn.

That looks awsome, congratulations on the great look you've acheived with your bike!

I agree the dash is plastic s##t that does not belong on this bike. You have also got rid of all the other plastic parts which looks great... enjoy your ride until the modification bug bites again!!!

Thanks for the comments guys. I enjoy hearing feed back from others with the same passion for these wonderful bikes. The mirriors are neither but look just like them. They may be from their supplier?? I paid around $150 for them from a site on the internet ( wish I could remember) but they are excellent quailty and no vibration at all mine have the flashing indicaters on the mirrior side also.
As for what is next?? the only thing I would like to do is chrome the wheels. They polish up nice but the work involved in keeping them that way is to much and not easy next to the whitewalls. The chrome would make life much easier....
I am looking for another donor bike to start on another project. I have some great ideas for the next one going in a bit of a differnt direction. I have collected a few parts so far but need to find a bike to tear apart.....Bad thing about me is I love to create but when done I become bored very quickly so I need to keep my mind busy.

I use a similar damper made by F.A.S.T on my xr 650 l, it really helps tame the thumper vibes, BA's already have brass bar end weights inserted from the factory, that style damper probably would reduce the vibes more, but i'm not sure I'd ever get the stock weights out. lol

Have you ever tried S 100 polishing soap? It's basically laundry detergent and detailing clay. it works great on maintained wheels to keep the shine with out huge effort and wont stain whitewalls, it actually cleans them pretty well!!!!! For seriously grungy wheels it works but there are things that work better like Speedy's All Metal for example. Either of them work really well on chrome too. I also like S 100's bike wash better than anything else on the market, but their spray detailer is crap. Motorex Spray and Polish is the best detailer I've found, Their spray and shine is ok but can be streaky if not buffed enough, it works well as a winter storage coating and in salty environments though.
Sorry I'm told I'm a cleaning chemical fanatic, my old boss used to rag on me all the time for having the parts guys order so many different cleaners for shop use, I've tried most all of them on his dime. lol

I like it, but I like the old tank better. Still a stunning ride, however.

I have a set of those wheels which I too wanted chromed. When I asked the we-chrome-anything guys for a quote they said, we won't do wheels. I think they told me why but I can't remember.

very nice, the more I look at it the more I like it. Spoke wheels would put the cherry on top.

Good job on the tank - my eye keeps getting drawn to the mounting bolt though.

I like the wrinkle on the chain guard (looks like mine ).

the color is silver birch and I did get the idea from my hummer. I had the unfinished bike sitting on the driveway thinking and then the whitewalls and the color hit me. I love the way it turned out and rode it yesterday for the first time with the new tank.It has now become a bike that few can tell what it started as. The oil light is not an issue for me either....I race dirtbikes and they don't have oil lights??? 2-3 hours of pounding the crap out of them taking on mud and water crossings and I have never yet had a motor issue. Check the oil, make sure its clean, and do it often so engine trouble will fall on someone else

And to address the mounting bolt on the tank I to don't like the exposed area (mostly because the factory welded bracket) the stock tank has a better mounting tab and looked great but to make the bonnie tank work it had to be modified and doesn't look as clean. Not to worry though I am working on a solution that will clean it up.

I love it no dash, swing arm mounted fender, battery relocated and a great color.
