I think this was a good move on your part. First impressions are tough to break but this was a step in right direction.
Think of this place like you're going to a party where you don't know anybody but many people there will know eachother. You need to lay low and kind of watch and observe for a while. Eventually, somebody will offer to get you a drink or invite you to sit down on the couch. You work your way in and don't just barge in spilling your drink all over the place.
This is a great party where I have learned SO much about my bike and good people that I have met here. Now I can offer solutions and give advice with confidence because of this site and the good people here. Keep it cool.

DunnSpeed hit the nail on the head. As for my Login name, it's what people call me at work, but not the bosses They haven't earnt that privilege

Good post here, Jason. Glad to see it. Okay, soooooo, ya wanna know why I just use my first name instead of some "sobriquet" around here? It's 'cause I lack imagination!!! Okay, no. I'll give ya the "real story" here.... You see, many years ago when this website was first started up, I used the moniker of "streettracker", 'cause I have a 1970 Triumph Bonneville-based custom Street Tracker. But then about a year or two later, the site owner, Robert Wade(a very mysterious and seldom heard from gent, btw), switched to another Server, and thus every member at that time had to "re-up". Now, I COULD HAVE just stayed with being "streettracker" after that, but here's my reasoning for switching to just plain ol' "Dwight".... You know how if you want to find another member's real name around here, how you have to click their site name over there to the left to see what it is in their Bio, just in case you want to respond to somethin' they might've said in a thread, then you can use their real name in your response? It kind of "personalizes" your text to them, RIGHT?! Well, you see, I just figured that I'd save those folks this added step by usin' my real name instead of "streettracker" after I re-uped. And so, when these folks around here wanted to respond to me with somethin' like..."Okay, Dee-WHITE, you friggin' moron! I can't BELIEVE what you just posted on this thread! WHAT the He!! is your problem, dude???"(which was a regular occurrence, I might add)...well, this way I can be a little more "accommodating" to these folks, by savin' 'em that step to see what my real name is!!! (...uh huh...and I'll betcha the VERY first thing people think of whenever they see my name over there to the left and right above that picture of that James Dean 550 Spyder is probably gonna be somethin' like, "Oh! There's that "accommodating" Dwight again. Gee, I wonder what "accommodating" thing he's said THIS time?"!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Ok Jason, I accept your apology, heck, if it's good enough for Deeewight, I reckon you deserve a break. You do have to buy a round for the house though. I'll have a Patron reposado..double Well OK, I'll buy my own this time, but you owe me. And there have been threads about peoples screen names, but it's been a while. Mine? Name's Bill. I'm 6'4" - 250lbs. I use all lower case to keep me humble (Lord knows I need it ) But whoever it was who sent Keith an offensive PM owes him a contrite public apology, 'cause he's a he!! of a nice guy. Otherwise if we ever do meet you'll see the other part of "big" starts with the 20" guns.

This was nice to read, actually. I really like the party analogy. B.Carnage is just my first initial and a play on my last name. It has been my stage name for over 20 years now. I have many other nicknames, but none that I would have chosen and most are not that nice. Strangely, I answer to them anyway.
Cheers,

I think it's a pretty stand up thing to make a public apology, as long as it's sincere. Chris is spot on with the party analogy. Me, I hold a grudge. At least I'm honest about it. That's just the way it is. That doesn't mean that we can't be friends or that I won't help with some tech advise, it just means I'm not so quick to forgive and forget. It will pass with time. As far as my username, it was the name of a "club" I rode with... after I got my Triumph, some of the guys stopped going out on our rides, they even had a secret meeting to discuss the future of the group and decided to make it a V-twin only group, lol! I think they were jealous of my bike being the center of attention when we stopped. Long story short, the guy that gave me my patches said he didn't want anything to do with it, and we still ride together, as well as DunnSpeed. And the rest of them? Well, they don't do anything as a group anymore anyway, so who lost out on that deal?
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Jason I except you're public apology, just don't do it again cause you make all of us newbs look bad. I really don't need any help there as I can do that really well on me own. What I would like to say is this bunch of people here that I have been fortunate enough to become a part of have welcomed me with open arms and asked for nothing in return. They have been exceptionally helpful with technical knowledge which I lack and really appreciate. Some of them have even laughed at my jokes. Most of all and importantly we all share a common interest which is the Triumph America and Speedmasters. We ride to live and live to ride. Long live BA.com you rock. Let us put this petty stuff behind us and move on.

My user name is my christian name followed by the first letter of my surname. How's that for imagination. If I used my nickname the site would probably reject it, A******E.

LOL so Frank does that make us twins I've answered to A******E for many years I have no idea whats gone on around here lately, and its probably good that I don't, My N/N came from someone who actually thought a bike I used to ride was a Yamaha 750 Midnight Special, and it just stuck when I opened an email account with it.

Hey Paul, Why the guy apologised I don't know.
Like you I don't read every post, only the ones I think might interest me.
As for N/N, I've had mine for 40 years and it doesn't bother me one little bit.
At least when I here it I know they are refering to me.

Jason, Haven't we all said something on a bike forum that we later regretted? I once bashed some guy on the TRAT site after he was raving about the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and how great a bike it was, blah, blah, blah... and I was like WTF? this is a Triumph site. Anyway. Don't sweat it as we are all friends here and will get over it. Also, seeing as how you live in Florida, I'm sure all will be forgiven if you want to just invite the entire BA community down to your place this January for a winter rally. Seriously where is Largo, FL? It's not Key Largo is it? Cause I might just show up with a cooler full of beer and food and pitch a tent in your front yard just to get away from freaking cold weather that is just starting to invade the northeast.
