I dunno what it is about my missus and the ability to find a good bargain motorcycle but it would appear on the surface she's done it again.

She asked me last night if I wanted a 1999 red n black Honda vt750 shadow with 8500 miles on the clock, absoloutely immaculate, with a lot of touring stuff fitted - fully running and ready to roll (apart from the registration) for $2000.

I was a bit errrrrr it's not my speedy though but I think I'll check it out when I'm over in Cheshire next week.

I looked on stuff like cycletrader and ebay and found nothing like that in that price range.

It sounds a good deal to me, any advice fom some of you more learned folks?

Has anyone had one of these bikes?

So I think even before I get over there I might be getting a bit of a bike collection going.

Just a shame they are not Triumphs.

I'm just wondering if Sandy is doing some bike repossessions in her spare time too?

My dad put almost 70,000 miles on a 2000 VT 750 ACE, and I've seen plenty of them with tons of mileage (i used to work as a setup tech at a Honda dealer)these bikes are pretty much trouble free with a bit of maintenance. The only issue I see with them is they need to be re geared for exstensive highway riding , but thats as simple as a sprocket change. I'd say buy it at that price if it appears to be properly maintained.

My father in law had a 2006 Honda Shadow 1100 and complained it had no torque/little power when riding 2 up and he's extremely slow and non-aggressive on bikes. I never rode it or any shadow for that matter so just sharing what he thought.

Well I'm going to wait and see what this bike is like before I go any further.

The intention is to get another Speedmaster over there...blimey I'd even "upgrade" to a Thunderbird if I get that desperate.

Despite Erle's enthusiastic post I'd still rather get something I'm more than happy with and used to than be constantly thinking "Wished I still had a Triumph".

So that and the CB450 (when I get to grips with it and do it up) will probably be used to get another Speedy over there.

Never owned one graham but my CB750 is anything to go by they run for fun, just change the oil etc and put more miles on it.... You got rid of your bike yet or are you hanging on to it for as long as possible..

Hanging on Ray!

I'm trying to get the most out of it while I can.

Besides it's my only means of transport.
