The only 2 problems with the battery is ;it has white writing on the side of the battery that shows(removes easily with accitone(sp)) and it has a red top. Other than that its a winner

no such thing as a "lifetime battery" .. motorcycle and lawn mower batteries if you are lucky .. will last maybe two years.. then wont go into the science..but plates sulfate over time.. i would rather get a fresh new one every few years.. and not wait for it to take a dump. .leave me somewhere .. wondering where the retail store was... IMHO ...

obviously no such thing as a battery that lasts forever... this is a battery that when it goes dead, you return it and get a new one however many times it dies in the life of your motorcycle

mmmkay.... Really?? I thought that it was pretty obvious that you would have to return the battery to the store when it goes bad.No battery lasts for ever. You did however point out the flaw in the system. If it craps out and there is no cyclegear store around to exchange it with your out of luck, but for $89 I will take my chances. Its not that much more that any other battery you would buy.

Just curious, for I struck out with google:
Who makes the batteries?
What / where is the MEGABOOST web site?
Is a copy of the warranty available online?
-------------------------
I wonder if they're a loss leader for Cycle Gear, to get us into the store? It's apparent that every one of them will need replacement at 5 or so years. A traditional lead acid battery for our bikes usually costs around $65. Interesting find. Love to know more.

Dont know for a fact who makes the batteries, someone told me it was westco. Megaboost is a Cyclegear brand.Their 100% satisfaction guarantee is truly a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Never any issues returning something I wasn't happy with. The warranty is all over the box and the website. I read mixed reviews on the megaboost battery(I think that goes for any battery) but nobody had problems getting them replaced.Cyclegear are good people to deal with.
I would guess that the batteries are a loss leader to get you in the store. I wonder how many do get returned? People dont seem to keep their bikes that long,so probably not many.

The Megaboost battery died. The battery lasted about 18 months. My only concern it that it crapped out with no real warning. Now taking into consideration the fact that I ride year round 3 to 4 times a week commuting to work in heavy traffic, and in the Vegas heat and winter cold,I don't think that's too bad of a lifespan. Cycle Gear were (as always) great to deal with,no hassle. In and out with the new one in 10 mins. Didn't even need a receipt.Free Lifetime replacement, you got to love that. I recommend them if you have a local Cycle Gear.

I keep thinking I'm due for a new battery. Still have the original one on my 02 America with 40k miles. A Harley guy I know says he has to buy one every other year.

Out here in Vegas, batteries on vehicles don't last long. If you get 2 years out of a bike battery(in my experience) thats good. Even car batteries only seem to last about 3yrs. I think the heat and traffic kill them sooner.

I still have the original from my 07, however I bought it as a leftover in April of 09. Rode it in San Diego for about 1 1/2 yrs and here in Huntsville for about 1 1/2 yrs. Only kill it once when my bike got flooded http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...&PHPSESSID= Had to put it on a trickle charge over night. Other than that the positive terminal corrodes every now and then. So my question is how do I know when it needs replaced?

when terminals corrode, it is usually a sign they are leaking acid and probably aint gonna last much longer.
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

When it has insufficent capacity has determined by a load test or when one or more cells dies, whichever comes first.

I only noticed it coroding during the summer months and thought it may have been due to the humidity being about 98% and the temp around the same.

I can't say I'm convinced on the Cycle Gear battery. The original battery lasted 3 years. Replacement battery lasted 3 years. Cycle gear lifetime battery lasted 4 months. They replaced it and the second one lasted around 3 months and died. I brought it back and they said it wasn't bad, just needed a charge. I bought a trickle charger and it's been ok for the last month.
The return policy is good but I'd rather have another 3 year battery that doesn't require a charger.

Update. Battery died. Lasted about 18 months, not bad, considering the type of riding I do(commuting)and the heat out here. Replaced free without an issue. In and out 10 mins.
