About to put new silencers on the tba, however the manual states 'smear a small amount of clear silicone sealant around the end of the downpipe'.I have never heard of clear silicone sealant does any know if this is right?

Hi,
recently changed mine and used the clear silicone - need to make sure that it is suitable for extremes of temp. Available from general parts suppliers eg in the UK Halfords. It stays flexible and ensures a good seal.

I use the Permatex Ultra Black and just make sure the clamp covers the joint. I have used the orange high temp too and the clamp covers it.

I think the key to a good seal is to smear it on both sides,
put the can on, and let it cure overnight. Then tighten it.
Use a high temp product as Dog and Kimo said.

I clean both surfaces and smear the sealant on the inside of the silencer then install.
