I gotta have a Triumph Flat Tracker. I have seen two. Dwights and another one. I am seriously scanning the states for one.
Dwight..I may call upon your expertise. I'll even sell my ride for one. The older I get the older I want.

Wow! Well here's ya a coincidence, Doug! I've just returned from watchin' the last Flat Track race of the AMA season which was run here in Prescott. Great day of racin'!

Anything you wanna know just ask.

(...though the idea of you sellin' that beautiful BA Bobber of yours is somethin' I don't wanna think about!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

AS nice as they are, Doug, you will not be selling the bobber.

That is all.

Kathy, if you've never watched "On Any Sunday", then go purchase a DVD copy of it, and once you get that darn clear cellophane wrapper off the sucker, pop that DVD into your DVD machine, sit down on your couch and enjoy learning what Flat Track Racing is all about, or at least what it was all about back in 1971.

(...though it hasn't changed all that much since then)

Oh, I've seen those races before. Just never knew what they were called. They're fun to watch. It must take some guts to do those. Thanks.

I wonder how many knees they've blown out over the years?

Me likey that Scrambler too, Brian!

It kind'a sort'a reminds me of a Rickman Metisse in a way.

The Rickman:
47hp
300lbs
$19K!!!!YIKES
The Trumpet
60-somethin hp(open pipes ya know)
450lb stock, but those pipes have to be alot lighter
Maybe $8k or less if you start w/ a used Scrambler and roll
your own.
Now if I only had $8K....

Very nice lookin' Street Tracker there, Paul. However, that baby would look even better and look like it's ready for some racin' with a set of Dunlop K180 Flat Track tires on it.

I have a set of those on my 1970 Triumph Street Tracker, and even though you might think their grip on road surfaces such as asphalt wouldn't be that great, they're so soft and "gummy" that they actually grip very well. I can really lean my tracker into turns and always feel totally secure while doing so on paved roads.

(...oh, and I think I'd also cut down that front fender just a bit too if that beauty belonged to me)

Yep. As a matter of fact Justin, South Bay Triumph's owner Matt Capri was thinking of being a distributor for these re-issued beauties for a while, but I think he's recently changed his mind about that. In fact, he had an original Metisse sittn' in his showroom for a while to see what kind of public reaction he would receive. And, the one he had sittin' there he claimed belonged to Steve McQueen's son Chad, and that it was the one Steve himself had owned.

I was kind of taken aback a bit that the foot pegs were machined from solid billet aluminum that did not fold up. I would've thought folding pegs would be natural on a motorcycle whose main purpose was dirt riding.

Yeah it would look more in place with a set of knobbies, but its fully road registered here in Australia, I came across it in a car park at a swap meet a few years ago, and I just had to snap a few pics, I left a business card under his helmet, but he never got back to me, I loved it
