Had no idea it was based on a Lincoln. I always figured Pontiac or Buick. Learn something new every day.

The original was a Plymouth Fury.

Looking at the body lines, Plymouth Fury does make much more sense.

Lincoln Futura in the 60s.

I always thought it looked like a Pontiac Grand Prix.

Ahem...John. Sorry, but Soren was talkin' about the original TV series Batmobile, NOT the car which starred in Steven King's "Christine" movie.

In other words, nope, the Batmobile which Adam West and Burt Ward would hop into to battle the forces of evil of Gotham City circa the 1960s(all the while with tongue firmly planted in cheek) was built by car customizer George Barris using a one-off 1950's FORD show/concept car named the Lincoln Futura. It was NOT based on any MOPAR vehicle ever produced.

Oh, and btw...many of the styling cues used on that show/concept car would shortly go on to find their way onto the bodywork of the late 1950's Lincoln product line, such as the Lincoln Premier.

Man that's nothing. When I lived in reno a few years ago, this old dude used to cruise around in one they used in the show. Still sweet though. Where's my checkbook? I'll take two.

It was a Ford concept car. You can tell because the brakes were notoriously unreliable.

Oh crap I got my F's mixed up. It was a Futura, not a Fury. My bad.

I have worked in big businesses, both on the floor and behind the glass. After many years of observation, I'm am totally amazed that anything gets done in this country. And lots of people tell me that government jobs and the military is WORSE! (god help us) I'm very happy that I don't have to work under dimwits and power brokers anymore, having been my own boss for about 11 years now. I treat my employees well, pay them more than I could, and give them them bonuses as much as I can. We laugh and work and outperform a lot of other higher paid crews. Occasionally, I get a little tired of worrying about future work and overhead, and I occasionally peruse the help wanted ads. Then, I come back to my senses, and acknowledge I just ain't cut out to work for no more knucklehead management teams again. Give me less money, fewer hours, and less stress!
