You know I've been pretty busy of late and havent been logging on that much-so much so that I couldnt remember my login/password combination when I returned. But I remember now......and is that nice Mr Gladstone still prime minister? And whatever happened to the Empire?....and to the old school tie(actually mine currently holds my sleeping bag together)...and another thing... Why?, Oh Why?, oh Why?...( that's as far as as I got with that one, but it's coming along nicely, dont you think?) Al

Ya know Alan, after reading your above Posting/Flashback, I have to say if there's anybody around here who I think could or would be able to visualize "Freedom" John after looking above their keyboard and would be able to get John to bring them a beer from the fridge...then it's YOU ol' boy!!!! (for a clearer explanation of my above response, see John's latest thread: http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...ge=0#Post469872 )
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

You mean that baby-faced bloke Winston isn't PM anymore? As for the Empire, I blame the metric system. When people daily dealt with the quid-bob-pence and inch-foot-yard-rod-mile systems, they were forced to be mentally more acute than when everything can be counted on the fingers.

And,whilst we're on the subject, the summers were longer, the sun shone brighter and you could still buy a Vincent Black Lightning and get change from a ten pound note.Oh and shouldnt we bring back the furlong, the perch and the pole...and maybe the black death too(Jeez, they just dont know how to label an illness do they?) and why not heat our homes with burning heretics too? Yes, there's much to be said for the old days when my forebears were Jacobite rebels (and stuff it,we still are) and toasted 'The King Over The Water' Oh dear, nurse, please can I have my sedative now?-the red wine's not working at all tonight.
