every yr about this time i have to travel to mi. to see my inlaws and other family. it is always this time because of work schedule and inlaws anniversary. i always end up doing some winter readines for them and him and i always clean the K&N filters in our cars. the problem is, IT IS ALWAYS COLDER THAN HE!!!!!!! this yr it was 88f when we reached the state line and before the day was thru it was 50 and hasnt rose about 55 since, they live on lk huron and right now there are white caps on the lake due to wind so i must wonder what the wind chill might be. i know that to some of you that dosnt sound all that cold but, folks i live in s.w.florida and dadburnit this is COLD!!!! It does this to me every yr, i swear i could come here in july and it would probably snow. anyway i guess what i am saying right now is that i am sorry to have done this to any michigaders that might have been ENJOYING the beutifull weather you were having before i showed up. every yr i think about bringing the bike but then when i get here and it turns cold like this i realize i am glad i didnt because i wouldnt be riding in this anyway. i know some of you might be thinkin but i cant help it, that guy arthir that travels around in my neck hates this and is letting me know it

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

That was a rant right? I mean I found it hard to read so I could be wrong but it sounded just a tad whiny. But if ya got things off yer chest and ya feel better then I guess it was worth it!

PS... You do feel better, don't you?

David, I know you are new to this site so here's some help... but first, welcome!! You are encouraged to start your own thread(s) when you have something to post, especially if it is a new topic like yours. It's a great way to attract attention to your topic and isolates it from all the rest. But if you are adding to an existing topic it's fun just to post within an existing thread. Oh, and just so you know, your request was answered here in the 'cam timing' thread.

You'll get the hang of it!

Geeez Keith! Have a little compassion for the newbie here, why don't ya?! The guy just wants an answer to a little electrical problem here, that's all!!! And so....

David! You say you want to disarm the alarm system on your bike, do ya?! Well then, here's what ya do....

Ride your bike to Michigan and then into cold and windy Lake Huron and let it sit in there for a minimum of 10 minutes. That should take care of any and all wiring systems on your bike that you don't want to work anymore.

(...thanks for the idea, newt!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

And here I thought Keith was a nice guy. He calls poor Newt, whose is freezin his FL keester off in Michigan, whiny and yells at the new guy for postin a thread in the middle of Newts thread. Then to top it off Dwight tells new guy, David, to ride his bike to Lake Huron to freeze his wires while Newt is freezin his keester. Sssshhhh Paul,,

That's my neighbour your talking about

And warm things up in that midwestern country Newt. I decided this afternoon to take a road trip to the state just west of Michigan. Work has been eating my lunch for about a month and a road trip to Mom's, doing assorted this 'n that's, suddenly made a whole lot of sense, besides I have 399 hours of a/l to chip away at

Hang in there Newt. After the first two minutes of Gator Country
air it'll all seem like a bad dream.

Yes thats what i was jus noticing "whiney" If you don't like mich........don't come up here, noone forces me to do things i don't like or want to do.Besides fla is jus as bad with all their "killing heat" Thats an awful way to spend ones life ...settin'inside , all summer tryin to get comfortable. I have been in mich all my life. used to hit fla when i was young every year in the winter.

It didn't show me much then ,and it doesn't now. Good luck with "the heat" a michigan original.

PS i just had a few buddies move to fla...they give me the raspberries about how i should come down there.I don't make that big o' mistakes

Although 3 months in in Jan-march looks a bit better than it used to

We were up in Michigan and Canada a few weeks ago. Winter definitely arrives there a little earlier than we're used to!

Yeah it is most assuredly a wake-up call each year. But a welcome one for the most part, It does get guys like me a chance to get their "iron" in the garage for required maintenace, where as riding . all year would not get your stuff fixed when needed sometimes.
I already have 50 merc.that needs to come up 1 an 1/2" . which means changing springs and removing bloks,And the other s need small things to.
My wife has family in jacksonville...but don't see them much. She doesn't like the extreme heat. You can't please all the people all the time and only part of the people some of the time. i guess to each is own . We have a stone cabin on lake superior in the upper.but i'm gettin so its quite a drive...but she goes anyway,Everything changes

newt, we can loan you an extra jacket if you need one.

Temps this morning were hovering at 50 and I still rode to work. Us midwestern/northern guys need to get as much riding in as we can. Between our two main seasons, winter and construction, time's a wasting.

Wimp! My ride on September 14th started out in Savanna, IL at 7am
with the temperature being in the lower 50s upper 40s. Crossing the Michigan State line at 5:50pm,

88 photographs later, the temp was a balmy 69 degrees. By the time I made Bowling Green, Ohio around 9pm, the temps were back in the lower 50s. I did manage to do one of those Daytona road side stops

somewhere in Illinois round 2pm.

But what do I know about Michigan temps? Heck I was only in Michigan for 25 miles!

well i'm back home and back to work. it was a sweet 80f today, i guess anytime you get a drop in temp of 40f in 24hr your probably gonna feel cold i mean when i left here it was 90 and the next day i am in mi where its 50 or less I WAS COLD!!! we were able to make a stop at the AMA hall of fame museum, anybody finds themselves around columbus ohio should make it a point to get by there, for sure worth the admission charge. also traveled some awsome roads west of 75 around lake cumberland. good to be home.
