I thought I would bring this newest purchase to the BA.com folks' attention. I bought a "Scott's Performance" reusable stainless steel oil filter (see pic below).



I used to have one of these oil filters on my last motorcycle, & was impressed with it. Yeah, it's $119, - but it's the last oil filter you'll ever have to buy for your beloved Bonnie. It's built like a brick s**t-house, and comes with a nifty removal tool.

Allowing particles smaller than 35 microns to pass unfilter makes this a very poor filter.Read any filter tests on a web search.Most filters do much better than this,which is in direct conflict with this vendors advertisement. Vegas

Mark, I don't know didley squat about microns etc. But It sure as hell looks the business.

i live just down the street from Scotts, so i went there a few months ago and looked at them. they are made very nicely but i opted to stay with my $6 throw away bosch simply because they're easier than having to clean a filter, and in the bike's lifetime i'd never approach $100 on filters.It just didn't make sense to me that i would pay much more AND have to clean an oily mess every time i changed oil. Now if this is true about the filtering properties i'm glad i made that descision. On the other hand, if it DID filter better than any regular filter i might consider it worth the cost and effort.

If you live just up the street from them, perhaps you could drop by and ask if their "steering stabalizer" would fit our Bonnies.

You see, I believe we own the very best "handling" production cruisers on the market, - and that stabalizer would inspire even more confidence.

Al's right about the 35 micron being not acceptable. In the business, we refer to anything over 25 microns (.001") as "boulders". As in, "look at this bearing surface. This engine's full of boulders".

Hi BT Re. the "steering stabiliser" - you probably would not need one for our bikes as the head angle isn't that steep therefore the steering's already pretty stable all on its own...as you say, we have fine handling bikes so what's the need? I haven't really noticed myself "wrestling with the controls" as they put it...IMHO, just another solution looking for a problem...

I like Purolator PureONE Auto#PL14612 or Motorcycle# ML16819 if you can find them. Filtration to 10 Microns. Pepboys had a sale right before Christmas. Buy one get 1 free with a limit of 2 free. I got 4 PureOnes for $10.00. I would rather do that then deal with the mess of cleaning the filter each time. Also, better filtration.
