...hello.

okay! so i bought my first bike in june, an 82 ironhead sportster and while i love the thing, it's been nothing but problems. the other day i found glittering oil in my primary and pulled my tranny to find bad, bad, badness.

so naturally i started looking for a reliable bike. come to find out triumph are, so that's what i made up my mind on. over the past week or so i've been searching, and i think i've found the one. it's a 2007 speedmaster with 450 miles on it. right in my price range. i guess the owner doesn't ride anymore due to illness, which makes me very sad for him. on the other hand, it makes me happy for me, because unless some jerk snatches it up before my check clears and i hop a bus to buy it, it's MINE!!!

so there you go. hi everybody. wish me luck.

450 isn't even broken in yet and is almost due for the break in oil to be changed out for Amsoil.

Welcome Steve. You'll not regret this move one bit!

Btw, you say you live along California's central coast, eh?! Nice part of the country! So, are we talkin', Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Cambria, or where exactly?

I ask because a few years back the wife and I almost decided on retiring to Paso Robles from L.A.'s South Bay area, instead of where we did, Prescott Arizona.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hope your cheque clears in time and you get that baby

As others have said, this site is nearly as much fun as riding the bike

Check cleared, I have a bunch of liquid fundage in my posession. Waiting to hear back from the current owner.

Today's my grandma's 79th birthday which means a cane upsiide the head if I even think about leaving. Hopefully tomorrow.

Hey, this preview deal is annoying, is there a way to turn it off? Or do I have to remember to uncheck the box every time?

Welcome to the site, great bikes, 36000 miles with only maintenance, and vanity changes....
Go to "MY Home" from the index, chose edit on display preferences, scroll 1/2 way down and there is a check box for preview.. Ride safe.

I bought my bike on my wife's birthday. We weren't married at the time, but still, it was 250 miles away and I left her all day to get it. On her birthday. She still brings it up from time to time. (of course)

I like the preview, keeps me from f*ing up too badly.
Lets you know if links and photos and such are displaying correctly.

I don't know if you can turn it off, the Friar will know.

Huh... been a long time since I was in the Preferences area of 'My Home.' So ya can shut of preview can ya? Well Steven, if your posts start getting all messy... you know, things like links that don't work, pics that don't come up, disjointed sentences, words that aren't words and such, I'm gonna have to remind you to turn preview BACK ON again!!!! If it wasn't for Preview I wouldn't be able to drink AND post in this here forum!!

Btw... good news on the bike. Progress has been made!

I don't know what they are either and they always annoyed me so I fitted two little chrome skulls to cover em up.

Steve, the oval-shaped one on the right is to set the electric Triumph issue clock that goes in the same opening that the tachometers come in as stock in the Speedmasters. The BA's do not come stock with a tach in there, and so one can order the clock for that area instead.

The round one on the right...well...I'm not sure actually, however I've put a switch in there which turns off and on the High-Intensity running light which I have bolted under my bottom triple-clamp("tree").

I think the round one on the left is for the red blinky light of the alarm system

Make sure you sit on both first if there is any doubt. I thought I wanted a Thrux until I sat on it and felt like a giant.
