I need help finding a motorcycle cover for my 07 TBA. My dad bought me one for my birthday and it said it had heat shields built in. Well I was putting the cover on my bike and the cover hit the header and melted through. I got the melted cover off my header but need a good cover that this will not happen to.
I keep my bike in a garage when I am at home but I ride my bike to work almost everyday. It sits outside under trees in the Texas heat, some out of nowhere rain showers and birds (will do what birds do).
My problem is I do not want to wait around 30 min, or go inside and come back out in 30 min to put on a cover. I want to ride, park, cover and walk away. Water proof would be nice but I try not to ride if there is a good chance of rain, but we all know rain happens.
Anyone know of a good “Melt Proof†cover?

i use to use one of those half covers. they cover the windscreen and seat. they stay away from the hot parts. might work for you. i have covered parking at work for my speedy so i don't have to worry about the birds.
If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

+1 for the half cover. I had a woven/insulated full cover years ago for my GL that was absolutely fantastic. But, it trapped all the engine/exhaust heat underneath for hours and was difficult to pack. So much so that I began using it less and less and eventually gave it away. Lesson learned.

Sorry, don't know the answer to this but the same thing happened to me and I've now got two holes in my cover! Never used to happen on my Harley and never even thought about the pipes. Maybe some sort of engine bars would keep it off but I don't think the Tri ones are big enough.

I used to use my full cover when I lived up north. When I would get home I would put it over just to the top of the fenders. Then wait for it to cool down and finish the job later. If you hook it just over the leading edge of the front fender it may work well for you. That way if you forget to go back to it, the painted areas and seat are still covered.
Totally covering a bike causes a lot of hot air under the cover, this may cause humidity and rust on some bits if not careful.
You should really only cover a cool or semi-cool bike.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
