Hello All! Glad I found this forum!
Below about 2K rpm on decel, terrible backfiring happens. Had D&D Boss Slip-ons installed when bike new back in April, re-mapped. Haven't touched air intake, or air injection (yet). Been reading that maybe leaks in system will cause this? How about 'too open' an exhaust system with 'no back pressure'?
Really love the exhaust note, but great pain in the butt (and embarrassing) popping...have had to resort to clutching by 2K rpm and wheel braking.
Sure would appreciate any advise. Coming up on 3000 mi...

Just sounds like it needs fattened up a bit more.If your like me you may be confusing ok non harmful popping with really bad popping, what you dont want to hear are real distinct backfires, strings of popping seem to be ok.Its a triumph, you got nuttin to be ashamed of,its just complaining because it doesnt want to stop!

Lol...very good stuff!!!
A lot of what I'm experiencing, unfortunately, are extremely explosive backfires. I'll hit the dealer up for answers in a couple weeks too.

1. Check for obvious intake leaks. Vacuum caps missing, loose or cut intake rubbers. 2. Also check your exhaust for leaks. Make sure and snug up the exhaust header nuts. Seal any leaks with high temp silicone. 3. You chould also try richening up your idle mixture screws. 4. Disconnect your Throttle Position Sensor at the plug situated between the carbs. This gave me the biggest reduction in decel popping. Been disconnected for a couple of years now.

That's good advice for carbs, however his is EFI, therefore mapping is also suspect.

did they change the head where the intake attaches? I wonder if carbs could be fitted with ease. Not suggesting that just thinking out loud.
I would do what has already been posted, look for intake and exhaust leaks and if intake/exhaust has been made less restrictive then re-map.

I put the Triumph short silencers on and had my re-mapped as it's an 09 America. Then it was running way too lean and kept dying. Had it "re-programed" by the dealer and now it's much richer but it does make the popping sounds a lot more when slowing down. Dealer mechanic said it's no big deal and to make it stop you'd have to "cap" off a couple of little hoses and you don't want to do that if it ever has to pass an emissions test.
Runs like a dream, but the popping is annoying at times.

i had a 09 bonnie efi for a short time. i put some south bay preditors on it and it popped on decel..alot. had it remapped with the off road tune and all was good. except for the lighter wallet.
If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

You need to bypass the O2 sensors. I did it by remapping the ECU with the Tuneboy programme. It happpens due to the fact you have put a less restrictive exhaust on.
What it can't reach it spits at.
