Ok, now I know that I should already know this but it appears that it wasn't programmed into my genetics, and if I don't ask I'm never going to find out! I'm off to Triumph Live this weekend, but horror of horrors I've never been camping on my bike. What's the best place/way to carry a small tent? It's approx. 3kg in weight and about 60cm x 15 cm in dimension. Unfortunately I have a solo seat, and no rack on the back TIA

Well, you don't leave many options there for strapping stuff down. Maybe front to rear on top of a saddlebag with some straps, or get a backpack (think athletic size or gym bag) it will fit in and carry it.
Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

If you go with this route ( I would) and need anchor points, Hein Gericke sell these.
Only thing I would say is if you are going to attach them to the number plate, don't use the standard plastic screws, use metal ones!

I've rolled my bag tight and long, and folded it over my headlight and down the upper fork tubes, but no tent or sticks. Why do you need a tent? You can't carry a bag, tent, and gear ALL on one bike anyway. (well, I guess you could...but ya might as well just get a trailer then.)
And you may see me tonight

On my America I carry a 4 man tent and cot on the back seat then on top of that put my sleeping bag and chair sec. row use at least two bunge cord, folding ice chest in front of the load use it a back rest cushion, keep your load low and tights. Clothes on lugges rack in back rain gear under the lugge rack, I used to put my tent and cot on lugges rack but it made my front end light(wheelies). I have a head light viser so I put cold weathe gear their like some one said they carry their sleeping bag. Care coffe pot and stove in saddel bages with food. Just hang the fry pan some place. Magnet tank bag mis things. Rudy

I'm playing a gig on Sunday and need to carry a guitar, fiddle, mic stand, mics and cables...and my lunch. The truck might be in use by another member of the family, so I'm going to build a wooden pack-saddle for the TBA. It'll be a plywood base resting on the pillion with struts running down to the rear footpegs, then attach to the sissy bar. I think it'll be pretty stable...hope so. Maybe you could try something similar?

Oh I forgot I sit on a small horse blanket. Then when I make camp I use it for a rug beside my cot so I,m not putting my feet on a cold tent floor in morning. And I always care a freind ( Mr smith wession). And this year I've gotten one of those 410 ga. 5 shot hand held as well.Rudy

Many thanks for the sound advice. Wrapped the tent in the ground mat and strapped it and the sleeping bag to the rear mudguard with a cargo net and flat bungee cords - worked a treat Triumph Live was brilliant - a Rocket being wheelied has to be seen to be believed!

I use one of those small blue traps and just roll it up with the tent as you. But watch those netting they have been know coming part way lose and wrapping up in the rear sprooket, all stop. I like the round strech cords they seem to be stronger for me. And like I said befor double strap seat and the lugge rack loads.Rudyr

I use those mini-bungie cords and hook them end to end for larger stuff. They are small enough that I carry a dozen or so in my tool bag and they hold anything I have ever wanted to hold on. I hook them end to end for larger stuff.I use a small net for my helmet in states where I don't need it.

Sound like you had a blast!!! Meanwhile... hope you didn't scuff the paint on the mudgaurd. Might want to look into a solo rack that replaces the pillion. They work and look great!
