Going to meet a fellow tomorrow, thinking about trading my beloved America for a '91 BMW K100RS. It would better suit my needs right now. Just finished changing chain and sprockets, finally installed the TBS cush rubber. Maybe I'll luck out and the deal will fall through...

Your reluctance tells the whole story... sounds to me like if you can do what you need to do and keep it, that is what you should do or face near certain regret down the road.

I'm keeping the shop manual, there'll be another parallel twin next to it before too long.

Agreed. Lon, haven't you been reading the tales of my momentary lapse of reason when I thought about selling my girl? Thank gawd I came to my senses before it was too late! In fact just yesterday I stopped in on a friend and he looked at me sitting with a huge smile on my beautiful Cardinal Red and he said... "aren't you glad you didn't sell it?" The answer to that can be found here - Does it get any better?

A retired buddy of mine has one with 213,000 miles on it. He'll hop on it an go anywhere in the country.
Its a done deal. Just got back from Pensacola, first time the Triumph didn't move under her own power. Took the truck because we both had extra parts with each bike. I'll have to go thru the Beemer before I test the touted 139 mph top speed. Heater core went in the truck on the way back, coolant all over the passenger side floor. Had taken my toolbox off for the trip, didn't have a single tool. All I needed was a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to re-plumb the hoses to bypass the heater core. Found what I needed in the Beemer's toolkit, back on the road in about 15 minutes. About 10 or 15 miles after that, had a flat. Brand new tires. I never have flats. Experienced changing a tire on the interstate with 18-wheelers roaring past about 3' from my backside. Next on my list is to get my airhead running, sell it, and pick up another Triumph twin. Maybe even a Bonnie or Thruxton. Learned last week from my wife in no uncertain terms that my limit is 2 bikes.

Nice to hear everything seemed to go very smoothly during this transaction, Lon!!!
Good luck with the Beemer!
Btw, I'll betcha the K-bike forum isn't nearly as fun as BA.com. So, don't be a stranger!!!
(...and besides, I think you still owe me 11 bucks worth of beers due to a certain eBay transaction a while back, don't cha???!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hope the new bike treats you well. Meanwhile hope you continue to hang around here where the 'cool' people dwell!

Sounds like its time to trade the wife off to me, lol Seriously though BMW makes an incredible bike it should serve you well.

Outside a dog a book is a mans best friend, inside a dog it's to dark to read.

See, even your truck is upset with what you've done
