I did a search for this expecting a zillion results, and got none. Who's used them and are they worth the money? Any increases in performance or mileage? What about longevity of the plug itself?

As far as longevity I am still running my stock plugs that came in the bike in 04. Had em out a couple times and put em back in. Over 24,000 on em so far.

Yeah I'm still on the original set myself with a bit over 10 k. I'm removing the AI and figured I'd change em since it's apart anyway. Gettin her ready for a trip so I figured why not.

Doesn't hurt and they are cheap I just haven't had a reason to change them yet. Mine still look clean and the bike runs good so all I do is check the gap and put em back. Wendy's has about 15,000 on them.

I currently run the IX plugs. No power increase. More expensive. Worth it? Nah. They work as well as Autolites.

I was running them for a few years. I just switched to the Nology Silver plugs, but I am thinking of switching back to the NGK Iridium plugs. Longevity? Not real sure, I change my plugs about every 10,000 miles whether they need them or not. Performance? Yes, definitely noticed an increase in performance and mileage. Overall, yes, worth the money!

Looks like mixed reviews, like I said the bikes going to be apart anyway for AI removal and I'm prepping it for a trip that we have planned. And like Soren I figure 10k about enough for plugs especially in a carbureted bike.
1st weekend trip with the new girlfriend and all that, just trying to stomp out any gremlins before they rear their ugly heads.

These are the NGK's that were in my bike when new:
NGK DPR8EA-9, $2.49 each
I fouled one a few years ago and so I just started replacing them annually, $5, what the heck. I also clean the air filter, replace my rubber vacuum caps and versa fuel filter at the same time. $10 tune-up.

Ask to see a dyno run comparing new stock NGK v. IX & that ought to settle the question, if you are on the fence & power is your sole criterion.

IX plugs should help a bit if you are running forced induction or if your bike has weak coils.

Me? I like the technology. But I don't have any expectation of power gains in a normally aspirated twin.

I wasn't really expecting any noticeable horsepower or torque gains, I'm not that gullible, lol. What I actually meant was performance as in smoother running, cooler running, quieter etc. Sorry I should have been more specific.

Well, at about $10 USD a pop it's prolly a wash financially, as the service life may be 4X as long as OEM plugs. They will probably fire in more adverse circumtances than stock, however I doubt that the average Joe will actually notice an objective difference, unless of course the average Joe is replacing worn out OEM plugs.
