Well my plan to take the colonies back is working rather well. We managed to sort out a house in Cheshire MA. Just need to sell the one in UK. I got an offer in but they can't sell their house yet. Anyhow all I now need to do is get my driving licences sorted, get my job application to McDonalds sorted out and find a cheap Barratt sniper rifle on ebay. Still debating though - sell the bike here n buy one over there or ship it?
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Listen... the sniper rifle is cool, but you still have to wear red and march in a straight line.
Oh, yeah on the bike thing... BOTH!

Hi Graham , Well the best way to work out if it is best to ship or sell would be. I think is to.Add the amount you would get if you sell the bike here and the shipping cost. Plus any costs with registering and changing the bike for US law. That will give you the amount you would have to buy one out there. I think I got that right. Would you get one better or worse than yours then with that amount. There is Two other things to take into account tho which would be 1: how attached to it you are. 2: from your thread the other week I reckon to may find a great deal if you carring on looking in sheds over there Not sure also weather UK bikes can go on the wrong side of the road Glad things are still on track for you atb geoff

Well, hurry along and drag that other foot along behind you. Carefully pack and ship your bike. It'll enjoy the drier weather ;-) Tips: - Do not root for the Yankees in Boston--I know it's confusing at first, but trust me, there will be less bloodshed - Continue EMT-ing and skip the McDonald's gig--you will work with about the same amount of raw meat in either job but I imagine the EMT gig pays better - We don't do anything special on Guy Fawkes day over here; we love gunpowder and its associated relatives all 365.25 days of the year - If you visit Baltimore, look me up and I will buy you a decent beer! Welcome aboard
John

Personally Graham, I'm thinking you should probably sell that nice lookin' black and yellow Speedie you have over there in Blighty, and then purchase another Triumph cruiser model of a different color.(notice if you will the absence of that superfluous "u" in the spelling of that word "color"...just another minor change you'll be expected to master if you plan on assimilating into the American culture) You see, the reason I say you should probably sell that black and yellow Speedie is because the smaller Massachusetts license plates are nothin' like those big ol' ugly yellow and black plates like the one presently on your bike over there, and which ironically made that big ol' ugly british license plate look reasonably acceptable sitting back there on your black and yellow Speedie's rear fender.(that would be the "mudguard" to you...just another thing you'll have to remember in your ongoing quest for assimilation over here...it's "fender", NOT "mudguard") And so, seein' as how I believe Massachusetts motorcycle license plates are white with red lettering, I'm thinkin' your best bet would be to purchase an older Bonneville America in Cardinal Red once you're all settled in over here. This of course is IF you're still lookin' to "color-coordinate" your motorcycle(not "motorbike") with your new license plate.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

U.S. cycle source http://www.cycletrader.com/Look me up when you get to Cheshire, and I'll give you the nickel tour of some awesome motorcycle roads in your new neighborhood. Cheshire is a stone's throw away from me (if one can throw a stone 40 miles that is)

Well Martin, if you DO happen to meet up with Graham, all I can tell ya here is to get ready to laugh yourself silly, 'cause he is one of the funniest blokes you'll ever have occasion to meet!
(..the previous "warning" is firsthand information courtesy of an extended meeting I had with the guy at last year's Euro Rally)
