I really want to try out my friends pegs on my America so I can decide if I want them and buy them. Problem is, I can't see how to attach the darned things now that i have floorboards. I was told that I may have to buy an adaptor. Now I'm wondering if it would be worth it to buy an adaptor and just how easy is it to swap back and forth from floor boards to pegs. Anyone do this before? I was thinking it would be nice to have the floorboards for longer rides, but around town and commuting use pegs, so I would hope it is not a huge deal to switch out. Sigh! SOmetimes my continual wanting to tinker with my bike gets me into a bigger RAT nest than I want.

The footboard brackets and the regular peg brackets are different.

I can't remember exactly how it goes, but I do know I have more than just foot pegs left over from the switch to boards. John's right... there are brackets to be had, not just the pegs.
Live to love, love to live.

Those are the swingwing pegs I was using. The adapters are already on for the pegs. Are there different brackets for the floorboards too?

I will have to take pictures of Soren's bike and mine so it shows the area I am struggling with. Liz says there is an adapter, which may be the bracket mentioned. I trust Liz a thousand percent.

If I'm not missing something here, you cannot use regular pegs of any sort with the brackets used with the factory footboards. You need to retrofit the stock peg brackets, THEN use a peg adapter to mount aftermarket pegs.
OR
Go ahead and retrofit the stock peg brackets and get a different style of footboard, say, Kuryakyn or Rivco.
Hear me now, believe me later.

I believe that you are right about this John.
They are Kuryakyn pegs, and I left the adapters in them. The actual bracket on the bike will need to be changed for a stock one, as you mentioned. I can't imagine that is hard to get, eh? She does not like riding around town with the floor boards, and wanted something a little smaller, and her feet are small enough to get under the shifter easier than mine could.
