Hi Folks. I just did a 1400 km (~850 mile) trip to the west Kootenay's in British Columbia. Stunning trip, but too short.. only four days.
I was riding 2-Up, and we were loaded with our gear. Put the bike on the scales at 300 Kg without us, and 450 Kg with us. Over 1,000 lbs with us aboard. The bike performed extremely well, and we had a lot of fun.
Anyway, I noticed while on the trip that the valve cover is starting to weep oil, particularly on the right hand side of the cover. It had a couple runs into the spark plug well.
The bike is a 2010 Speedmaster with 7,000 km (4500 miles) on it now. I've read about this, and it seems to be a standard feature. I'll try and torque the valve cover bolts to spec and see how that goes. She's got a full tank of fuel right now, so I'll have to burn some off first before pulling the tank. Funny, it was dry until I took this trip.
I must say the performance of this bike with all that weight was impressive. We had absolutely no issues with lack of power, and the handling was just as impressive. We're very pleased with it.
