Yeah Chy - I think she'll southerize real well. We can help her with her english between now and next time down. Be sure to schedule next year's get together while Larry's son's bike is parked for a couple weeks.

Just Rolled in the driveway in Indy at 6 pm. Sunday was a wet mess, Gary(Wasp) and I split from the New York boys with the Truck/Bike just west of Ashville, NC. We took the Road over the Smokies at Cherokee. I left Gary in Pigeon Forge and went North as far as I could. Made it the Kentucky border at 9 pm Sunday spent the night in Williamsburg, KY. Left 10 am this morning in rain, took all secondary roads. Kept the rain gear on to cut the cold wind. Only 55 degrees when I left. Took 421N thru the middle of KY and another great road. Finally got out of rain gear in Frankfort. Crossed the Ohio river into Madison, Indiana and bright sunshine and 76 degrees(GO Figure. From the river, only took 3 hours of Flat roads at 60 and 70 mph. 16 hours in 2 days and I now know what Saddle sore really feels like(And I don't like horses). Most of all Thank you to CHY and DI for their great hospitality and for being the best tour guide for a vacation I have ever had. You have got AAA beat by 110%. I really felt accepted as if I was always part of the group. Even though I was driving a Sewing machine. And Yes Pete I will do something about that lack of noise. Thanks to all my new found friends, I can see this is going to be a great group to be a part of. I know we don't have any roads like Ya'll do, But if any of you ride anywhere near Indianapolis you better call me!! Thems fightin words. hey I'm getting used to using this Southern talk. I've got to run to the store I'll be back on later. I am taking the TRUCK to the store so the dog can go too. Just like our friend Sally I mean Benny. Steve_Sixmil

HOPE SO!!! It was fun enough with the 3 Blues there this year, listening to the guys who have Blacks and Reds quietly admitting that IF the Blues were around when they had bought their bikes, they'd have bought them instead (I'm sure all of this will of course be denied in public now), so one more should tip the scales even more....

After making a gut wrenching decision to not return to Chy and Di's for one final fairwell Sunday (it was raining, and I knew I would be delayed), I was off in a drizzle. Brad, I figured you had already left by the time I left, and I forgot to get your cell phone. Sorry. By the time I hit Atlanta, I was riding I-85 or whatever through downtown in a downpour. From the little I could see, I can tell you all that I was getting some funny looks from the cages. Shortly after turning further South on I-75 I hydroplaned a little and got a little sideways at 60+mph. No worries as the Avons grabbed quickly and my journey continued. I battled rain all the way to Valdosta but was able to average well north of 70mph into Florida. Once on I-10, I dropped the rain gear and high-tailed it to JAX and the final leg on I-95. That is where the fun really started! 50 miles from my home I ran into a 45 minute delay for an accident clear across the interstate on the far side of the road. Love those rubber neckin' cagers. Once clear I made it to within .75 miles from my exit when I noticed a distant, dark smoke hovering in the Western sky. Shortly, I braked from 90mph to around .0000001mph in a few yards (who says an America cannot brake?) and proceeded to ride my clutch in full leather gear and 85 degree temperatures for the next 45 minutes. Now within site of my exit, I decided to run the last few yards in the emergency lane and was quickly spotted and pulled over by a frazzled Deputy. He must own a Hardley as he let me go with the old, I thought my clutch was going to burn out bit. From the twisties to a 45 minute ride at under 1mph, it is amazing what our bikes can do. Anyway, it turned out I-95 South of my exit was closed because of a forest fire which has now burned over 1,000 acres and come within 5 miles of my house. Luckily, we are going to survive this one. 95 is still closed as I type but should re-open soon. Chy and Di, I cannot say how much I look forward to spending a few days with you both. You are kind and gracious, and I hope we didn't make too many enemies for you at the Econolodge. Shhhhhhhhhhhh! Moe and Lynn, thank you for your kindness, kinship, and keen wit during our travels. Moe loves those Walmarts! Newt and Sue, anyone would feel at ease in your fine company. Phil and Janet, it was good to see you ride together on Raven. I know she loved it, and it was a great site to see. Gordon thanks for keeping me out of trouble. Hope you had time for that valve check and chain replacement before your flight. Brent and Jess, wonderful to meet you in person. I look forward to my next mint. Good luck with your family. To the Blue Ones (Big Jack and Diane, Mert, and Bayern), you know I think you are the best. Special thanks to Mert for the surprise of the weekend. The halucination became a beautiful reality! To my brethren from the Windy City (glazer, airguy, roundy), "Bear Down!" Steve Sixmil, I know we will see a lot of you in the future. Glad you made it back to the Heartland. Good work on the bike Pete. It was super to spend so much time with you in one piece this year. Englishyankee, glad to know you share my love of bourbon. I'll have to remember that around Nor'East time. Benz Tech and Honda girl who are still on the roads around Iowa, you are a perfect complement to each other. You fit. SmWasp, thanks for following me on the way back from Newnan. Next time, bring us some brisket! b717doc, you rode pretty darn well for someone concerned about a little rain. Let it roll off your back and ride my friend! Larkfarms, your bike is cool just the way it is. Thanks for riding such a long way. I promise to be a sober welcoming committee next year. Well, maybe not! Mr. Skillet, you missed Mrs. Bogie's wonderful 'naner puddin' and Larryshep's fine meal. We'll get you next time. Thanks Larryshep for continuing to set the bar on the twisties and in the kitchen (special thanks to your wife). KennyMC, heard you ride off in the rain about 30 minutes before me. It was still worth it, eh? Pat, thanks for showing me the great line Saturday. Can't wait until September. Jaymo, way to take life in stride bro'. Benny, all caging aside, you can ride with me anyday. You are one cool Sally. MrUnix is now a member of the Southern Ridin' Crew, so consider a trip to the Nor'East! DK1, nice to meet you and hope to hook up with you for some riding around Lake Michigan soon. I think I mentioned everyone, but if I did not, it surely was not intentional. I loved being with each of you. Actually, that is not completely true. To Mlessard and Yota, keep the f away from me, especially after drinking those sweet tart drinks. Keep the shiny side up and looking forward to more adventures together. I am humbled and fortunate to count you as friends and riding partners! Ryan

Yota,
You just remember: I have photos of you and granny and I'm not afraid to use them if I have to dangit!
Oh yeah all, I am home safe. Split with Glazer and Roundy77 about 40 miles from home. It was around 9PM'ish and I wanted some Chicago style pizza. Stopped in a local watering hole only to find out that the kitchen was closed. But, amen, they had free pizza to offer me. Watched the Cubbies getting theor butts whamped and headed home about 11'ish. Now I should be in bed but can't sleep for some reason. Must be some left over remnants of that Sparks stuff.
Anyhow, I will write a bit more on the trip down to GA later. Thanks all, especially Chy and Di. 'Twas a great time. I know someday I will be around when Chy really does find some real twisties.

Thought I'd chime on in as well The Rally was great fun. Special thanks to Chy and Di for providing a home base for us, and to Larry for the wonderful fixins Saturday night. It was great meeting everyone and being able to place some real faces on the screen names around here. The weather really gave us a break for the rally and waited until time to leave to dump on us. I caught rain until just south of Atlanta and finally managed to find some real sunshine after getting past Macon. Took 9 hours to make it home and boy that waterbed sure felt good! For those who didn't make it, you sure missed a good time. I'm not sure which was better, meeting everyone, riding around in the mountains, or the parties in the Econolodge parking lot (complete with Dahlonegas version of Apu from the Simpsons, but without the slushies). I'm pretty sure a great time was had by all, some more than others Thanks everyone. Hope ya'll made it home safely. PS: Ryan, I'm sure you left well before I did Cheers, Brad

We rolled into New Yawk about 11:30 last night. I will post an extended report on the adventures of the Yankee Invaders soonly, I need to unwind a bit today and hang with the bride and the kids a bit. C Ya!

Rolled up my alley about ten o'clock last nite and if by magic the garage door goes up.... wife had the radar out I guess. Prying myself outta the seat and a big hug and kiss later she asks if I had fun. Apparently I didn't stop talking for 20 minutes, at a louder than socially accepted level, road noise ya know. She suggested that I may need cosmetic surgery to repair the wind/sun burn as well as correcting the perma-grin.
Chy 'n Di..... words hardly seem adequate. You my friends are the cream of the crop. I've been very fortunate in my life to meet some wonderful people but what a treat to meet the benchmark of "what good people are about". Thank you so much for everything!
The rest of you, once again words are hardly enough....what an outstanding collection of humans. The wife and I have this little joke about my internet interactions. After hitting the forums for awhile she'll ask how my "imaginery friends" are doing. Afterall, as everybody knows the internet isn't real people, hehehe. Well indeed it would be near impossible to imagine a finer group of people. I felt more like I was at a family reunion than a bike rally so to speak. For me,there was everybody.... brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and a few REALLY SCARY cousins. Oh and did I mention SCARY COUSINS!? ....lol
As a few of you may know I was really hesitant on attempting the trip. There was times when I swear it was down to pure grit to keep going, choke down a few of the "good pills" and gas on! Gotta tell ya though, I am SOOOO glad I did and would do it again in a heartbeat even if I have to install a morphine drip on the bike. Hmmm, Brent, ya out there bud.... can I get an IV bag hanger in polished stainless!? Flames on it maybe?
It was a pleasure my friends.......
Steve
Oh and by the way.... forgot to mention another thanks to Chy and Di. About that list of things I have to do before I die. Number 147, Ride through downtown Atlanta at 95 mph.... checked off baby!!! Gas on!

What can I say that hasn't been said before? The weather was just like it was during the '04 rally but the rain never seems to dampen our spirits. The good times we have and even better people that we meet during the rally are what keep bringing us back. Everyone is welcomed with open arms (even those not on Triumphs) and if you show up for one rally, you'll feel guilty if you have to make an excuse for not showing up to the next one. Not because we lay a guilt trip on you (although we might call you Sally) but because you know what you're going to be missing. I felt a lot of comraderie with folks on the site before my first GA rally but it didn't compare to the closeness I felt (and still feel) after meeting other members face to face.
Remember, always be yourself.
Unless you suck.

I am sorry it is over. I live only 20 miles away from Dahlonega so did not have to endure any hardships to attend, so I want to thank those who ride (or trailer) for a long way, you guys make the rally what it is. Thanks to Chy and Di for putting it all together, and I look forward to next year!

I finally got back to the still thawing tundra of Wisconsin. It was great to finally meet everyone. Sorry I had to leave a bit early, but at least the weather worked in my favor. It was sunny all the way from Georgia to Ohio. Thanks again to Chy and Di for hosting.

What a fantastic rally!! I am so glad I went. Chi & Di, you guys are the definition of Southern Hospitality I have never felt so welcome. Thank you so much, and thank Larry Shep for the great food. On the way home it rained all day Sunday sometimes really hard. I had to hole up in Huntersville, NC for the night. Monday was cloudy and cold. I had on two ‘t†shirts a long sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt, my leather jacket and a rain jacket and I was still a little cold at 85mph. The rain jacket was need for the off and on rain, the sun came out in northern Pa. way too late to matter. Got home Monday night about 8:30. Total miles for my trip including the great riding in Ga. 2067 miles Yahoo! I will never do this again. Not until next year.
if life gives you lemons keep them because hey, free lemons.

Ok all you southern riders. Slabbing it is the sign of the rain dance. Lynn and I rode 52 to 15. Saturday had us riding in misty conditions for 45 minutes or so. No rain, till literally at the FL/GA border Monday at noon. Then it was heavy till right before Steamboat Lilly's (10 miles or so) where we were going to stop for lunch, cept for that black weather that we just sprinted through and was heading our way. I wore my rain gear on Sunday. Lynn never wore hers the whole way home! We pushed the threshold of repellency on Monday by alas, dried off nicely after a half-hour or so in the wind. Stopped fer the night in the wonderful resort town of Baxley, GA. Pine Lodge motel, 40 bucks after all charges for the night. Ryan had called us Monday morning. Phone was not answered and as I noticed the fact that he had called, I heard on CNN that FL was afire. Well, we rode south on 15 to US1 then 295 to 95 and rode on the slab till Ryan's exit where the interstate was ah'shut down. Took Taylor to Spruce Creek to US1. Home no problem. That is weird cause our return route was, exactly, the route we had traveled up to the rally. Us Floridians know how the Texas folks are feeling. These fires are almost as bad as the inferno of '98. Moral? Roll it like you smoke it. Nice and easy and on the less traveled roads. You’ll see more country, stay drier (right) and eat at bona fide country bumpkin (how’s the frost out on the pumpkins?) greasy spoons.

Rolled in yesterday about mid-day and spent the remainder of the day resting and sleeping...
Chy and Di, thanks, thanks, thanks, just can't say thanks enough.
Everybody, I had a great time. Met some awesome people. Rode some roads such as never before. Gotta do it again, the good Lord willin'.
