 cut's out in the rain

Took my bike out for a little spin last week, from PortT Talbot ( Wales ) to Porcaro ( Brittany ) 850miles, on the way home hit some rain and the 06 TBA cut out, couldn't figure out why, but all I did was open the petrol filler cap and it started straight away. this happened again 30 miles down the road.and only seems to happen in the rain. can anyone explain why ?

Cut the end of the fuel breather pipe under the bike at an angle of 45 degrees this sooks up water and causes the tank to become air locked ...quite common with these bikes. Oh and if ye have an older model without the shield covering the coil under the tank make sure planty of de electric grease as water get funneled down side of the tank soaks the coil.

I have never had any problems in the rain, thankfully. Wendy and I just rode through some heavy rains on our vacation to Fl.

+1 on the electric grease on the small wire that connects to the coil. Big rain storm on a pass in the CO mts. Bike cut out at the top of the pass (lucky), coasted all the way down. Pulled those small wires there was water in the connection. Took about 5 mins or so to dry them out. Bike fired and was fine all the way to CA.

The quickest "fix" is just to loosen the filler cap while you are riding. The engine will come back nicely. Z and I both know about that! The long term fix is cutting the fuel breather tube at the 45 deg angle. I haven't done that yet with my "new" TBA.

thanks for all the help guy's. it's a bit of a pain when it happens, took a while to figure it out and I missed the ferry from Cherbourg, had to wait 12hrs for the next one, but at least it doesn't seem to be a serious problem.

Yikes... hope you didn't have to wait that 12 hours in the rain!!
