I don't particularly like or dislike Harley Davidson motorcycles (many of their owners, on the other hand...). But I just don't know what they're thinking. 1800cc bagger for $32.5k? You gotta be kidding me. Look at this frickin thing! Same old crap wrapped up in a fancier wrapper. Someone in the comments noted that it's 940lbs dry. OVER THIRTY-TWO GRAND! Am I missing something? Ridiculous. I'd rather have a Rocket III Tourer AND a Rocket III Roadster for less! http://www.cyrilhuzeblog.com/2010/08/13/2011-harley-davidson-cvo-street-glide%C2%AE/

Yeah... for the price I (we) could................! But setting that aside, it is a great looking bike. Love the lines, the style. Love the idea of the sound system at 100W/side. Vented lower sounds good and all the rest like ABS, electronic cruise control, carry out saddle bag liners, security system with siren. It's actual dry weigh (according to HD) is 814 lbs and they claim 47 MPG. Not bad. I can't afford it... but then again I was never able to afford a Cadillac, R/R, Mercedes or even a Chevy Impala... but if money was no object, this would be a nice luxury ride for sure.

I really don't care what they charge for it, I don't plan to buy one anyway.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Yeah, I know what you're sayin' here John, but look at it this way...
For "only" another 16 or 17 Grand over what a R3T would cost ya, you can purchase a whole new...(you KNOW what's comin' here, don't cha)...LIFESTYLE!!!
Okay, actually I'm with Keith here, if money was no object, I suppose I could see myself ridin' that H-D on the Interstate.
(I said "Interstate" here remember?!...'cause that boat wouldn't be ANY fun over Mingus Mountain, nor any other twisty road around these here parts!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Those CVO machines are just a collection of parts catalog items. I just don't get the paint schemes, maybe they're a little "hey, look I just spent $33 grand out the door". For $33k, I'm buying about four nice used machines....

I would rather buy 2 R3s Get the Roadster and the R3T or a couple Bonnies and an R3T. Maybe a Bonnie,a Thruxton and an R3T.

They will not languish around in the showrooms for years. There are a lot of well to do Harley lovers that will buy that bike. If you were into practical you would really not buy a bike at all, let alone a Harley.
Its also about taste. There is no right or wrong. Ask a large group of Harley folks what they think of the looks of a Rocket 3.
They think its just a little uglier than a Victory Vision.

Naw, they shouldnt be ashamed, when there are plenty of sheeple willing to hand over that much cash just because it is from The Motor Company, and are willing to brag about how much cash they wasted.

Totally overpriced!!I stopped at Downtown Harley thursday to check on a roll bag for my Rocket(T-Bag)..They gave me a nice reception and the sales guy saw my Bonneville patch and asked me if I had been to the flats?"Yes I was when I was 10 years old" He relpied that He wished to go so that He could run His 110 flat out as He couldnt find enough road to trully open it up..I replied with my torque the Triumph 140 only needs 1/8 mile to run out..He left to go check out my Rocket and returned to say"nice ride" and then pointed me to the accessaries dept...Almost as big as the showroom floor(saw several brand new 06 HD on the floor??)
life is good..I am retired..sold my America in 2008,bought a Rocket and sold that in 3/2013 and now own a new Triumph Bonneville T-100

I agree ,no reason for shame. The first rule when running a business is to charge what people will pay. You want to get as much for your product as you can with as little expendature as possible without hurting sales. HD seems to have done well there, using old technology to keep costs down and plenty of marketing to sell it. If I could build a $10,000 bike and get $30,000 I would.

The OL had a Roadking for a while. It was nice enough once it was moving, but I really didn't like driving a 2 wheel Packard 180 saloon. With an unpaved driveway, it was a real PITA getting it out of the garage too. I remember a friend bought a full dress Electroglide in '58 or '59 for $1087. At around the same time, you could buy a big American luxury or muscle car for around $3200 - $3600. Considering that a new Chrysler 300 or Dodge Hemi Charger now sells for about 10X that, I would think around $11K would be a fair price for a new Tourglide.

HD isn't the only one charging an excessive amount for their bikes. A fully loaded Goldwing will set you back about $50,000 as will a fully loaded HD Dresser. I wouldn't doubt a fully loaded Victory cost about the same amount. The new Indian motorcycles start at $33,000.
Now maybe Honda and Victory will haggle over the price a little more than say HD or Indian, but they are all very proud of what the sell and the MSRP shows it.

Actually, Brass Balls Bobbers are quite affordable. And on the off chance I was going to buy a custom Harley, I'd talk to them first.

The most expensive Gold Wing (airbag) is $28k. If you go on the site to customize and check EVERY box, its $32,308. The 2011 Victory Vision Tour starts at $23,200, and with less options Im guessin won't get to $30k. The Indian is a sad shadow of the real Indian (Springfield, Mass) and fancies itself (wrongly) as something of a custom shop. If you pay more than $30k for a bike, yer an idiot. But at least with the Honda you'll be an idiot with a well-appointed, rock solid, great-handling bike.

Yeah, well, count me in on this too, guys! However, I have a little feelin' that we're ALL probably at least 30 years or more too late to find a deal like THAT out there anymore.
(...and so tell us Ian, when DID you have your little fling with that Panhead?)

quite some time ago, around 1982 give or take a couple years.I sold it again for $2,000. Now when I say pan the engine was a pan and the trans went with it. The rest was after market or altered.
I have had some other great buys too, my 1954 T-110 with matching numbers cost me $20 but it was a basket and the guy didn't know what it was. My 64 BMW R-50 was $400 and all I had to do was bolt a couple parts back on and clean the carbs. Been riding it for years now. My 58 T-110 was $500 in running condition. I traded a 75 Suzuki GT550 triple for my 64 Norton P-11 even up. The list goes on and on.
