Was up in Estes Park with the family today and saw 3 bikes next to the curb. No big deal till I noticed one was a black Speedie, and the other was a T-Bird (the 3rd wasn't a Triumph so who cares!(heehee)) Cool, a Speedy in Estes, then I looked at the license plate. All 3 bikes were from New South Wales I believe (according to the license plate frames) and had Aussie plates. Now THAT was cool! Wonder if they left their snorkels in for the ride across the Pacific?

If ya hit the water fast enough coming off the beach, the bike will stay right on top of the water! Well, at least that's what they do with snowmobiles 'round here in the summer!! Hmmmmm, maybe NOT motorcycles. You're right... they'd need snorkels!!

Hey Keith, do you think that fella there on the bike REALLY needs that helmet on? When I saw this I fell over laughing...this is a great "What's wrong with this picture" shot.

Australian bikes are nuclear powered and don't need snorkels...

well, hopefully it wasn't one of these guys, but an Aussie on a Harley (maybe the 3rd bike) was killed on I-25 South coming out of Fort Collins where the road zigs in a construction zone and the pavement has a drop off onto the fresh asphalt. Either way, a shame.

Greg, Thanks for posting regarding the Aussie that was killed in Colarado. RIP Jimmy Williams. Jim was a good friend of our group of riders. Details of his accident have been very limited for his friends back home. Jimmy was a triumph rider, having owned a Sprint and a Rocket 111 in recent years. He had only just beaten throat cancer and was on a Trip of a lifetime to Sturgess with his wife, Julie. Greg, Through your post I have been able to find newspaper articles regarding the accident. much appreciated Bro. Just goes to show what a really small world it is that we share. From all of Jimmys friends back here in Australia, our thoughts are with his wife, Julie, who was travelling with him. Get well and hurry home darlin'. Goodbye Jimmy my mate! news article

A three inch lip between lanes!?! You gotta be kidding me! That's huge. And deadly.

Very... very sad news. This must be extremely hard for his wife Julie who was there with him. My condolences to family and friends like you, Brett. This is terrible loss under terrible circumstances.

So sorry to hear that he was one of your mates. I can only hope that he went with great memories and peaceful thoughts during his last moments. Rest in Peace.

I've driven over some of those lips (just north of here), and even in a car they're hairy. Seems there are a lot of them around here too, so have to be doubly aware.

How truly sad it is that this thread which started out as a report of a happy coincidental sighting of a fellow Triumph rider from a land far away, has now turned into a report of a tragic accident.
My condolences to all of Jimmy Williams' friends and family in Australia.
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
