In the past 10 days or so I've blown both lightbulbs in my Triumph lightbar. The OEM bulb is a make I've never heard of... "Au-Lite" H3/35 watt. I only have about 4,500 km (2,800 miles) on the bulbs.

I've replaced them with Wagner H3/35 watt (part number BP1235/H3). I sourced them at NAPA.

Is it normal for these bulbs to only last a few thousand KM? I have H3 bulbs in my Jetta, and they are nearly 7 years old and going strong.

Hopefully the Wagner bulbs will last a little longer.

H.

I have 39,000 miles on my '02. At 12k, one bulb burned out so I replaced both. Haven't had to change one since. I bought those bulbs from rallylights.com ($3/12 ea) You might want to check your leads for a short, loose ground, etc.

I did check all connections while I was in there, and it's all good. All connections are tight, and packed with dielectric grease. Hopefully the new bulbs will last longer. Maybe the vibrations from the road are too harsh on these bulbs.

Thanks for the input.

Well, my first one did die after a ride on a dirt road.

my light bar lights have never burned out and my head light is still kicking too, although it is pretty dim now

Both mine went in 2 months. Replaced with PIAA in 07 and still going strong-just saw my old bike yesterday.

Good to know (or not) that I'm not the only one that had them burn out early.

As it's getting darker earlier these days, I was getting 'beamed' a lot by oncoming cars with the driving lamps on. I realigned them last night, and they are much better now. For a reflector that really doesn't have much of a pattern to them, they can sure produce lots of light!

The driving lamps are a good thing to have for day or night riding, IMHO.

I angle my left one just so it catches oncoming traffic just a little, that confirms they are indeed paying attention.
