Hi all. I had a bit of a disaster last night, I am selling {or trying to} my TBA. A guy took it for a test drive and dropped it, the only damage I can see is the drivers footpeg which he knocked off. However now I cant get it to start, when I press the ignition button it just clicks.....it almost sounds like a dead battery but I am pretty sure the battery is ok......I even put it on charge all night but still no joy. Any ideas what could be wrong please?

Yes he did....was a very nice guy and I felt real sorry for him.....its not to hard to imagine being in his place, I am having it towed to the dealership today so hopefully it will be a quick fix......just hope he ends up buying it now.

Thats good to hear...must be mortifying for all concerned ... as proud owner watches newly polished pride and joy dropped and potential buyer has that 'Jeez' moment.

Glad to be of help . But be prepared for a shock when you get it to a dealer. Although with the starter motor stuck sounds if he stalled it and then dropped it so if he was not moving fast.It maybe not to bad . check the tank because the indicator lights normal hit the tank when they go down . but sounds as if the crash bars did there work. Let us know how you to get on john. atb geoff

Glad you got it running.
I've never sold a bike myself. But I've heard that it's a good idea to have the cash in your hands if the guy wants to take a test ride. If he doesn't want the bike, you can give the cash back, but in case anything happens then it's now his bike. Though I've bought a few used bikes and I've never handed over the cash before testing the bike out. So I don't know how well this would actually work.

Well John ol' chap, unless I've missed it somewhere, as far as I can tell you've neglected to inform us IF in fact you're going to accept the "poor guy's" offer to pay for any and all damages incurred while he was astride your motorcycle.
And so, I have to tell ya here ol' buddy, if I was in YOUR shoes, I wouldn't care if the "poor guy" was a lawyer or a priest, or for THAT matter a doctor or even an Indian Chief(not the vintage American motorcycle here, you understand)...I would have DEFINITELY accepted his "kind" offer!!!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yep...I sure accepted his offer to fix it....no way I could afford to do it myself. If we wernt in such a crummy financial situation the bike wouldnt have been up for sale..when it does go its going to break my heart.

Sorry to hear that, John. However, chin-up ol' boy! I know you'll be turning the ol' corner in this regard very soon, and at that time we'll be hearing about your newly purchased Triumph around here! Best of luck!
