Motorcycle in ‘Salt’ zips into Omaha movie theater

Vroom, vroom! A Triumph motorcycle reportedly used during the filming of “Salt” will be on display this weekend at the Rave Theater at the Westroads Shopping Center.

Breeze Cycle, a family-owned midtown Omaha motorcycle shop, acquired the bike.

“It came up for sale,” said Gloria Gard of Breeze Cycle, 4961 Center Street. “We knew the movie was coming out, took a gamble and purchased it from Triumph Motorcycles.”

The black-and-silver trimmed motorcycle will be on display until Monday. It is one of six bikes used on set and one of four that wasn’t destroyed in film production.

“They managed to crash a couple of them,” Gard chuckled.

Gard refused to say how much the bike was purchased for or whether actress Angelina Jolie rode the bike.

“It’s in great condition,” she said. “It has one scrape and 12,000 miles on it.”

The motorcycle is roped off inside Rave Theater near a “Salt” backdrop. People can stand in front of the bike for snapshots but can’t climb on it.

Triumph Motorcycles is a British motorcycle company that produces sport bikes, cruisers and touring motorcycles. The brand has been popular in movies in recent years, providing motorcycles for several Hollywood hits, including the “Matrix”, “Mission Impossible” series and “How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days.”

Breeze Cycle opened in 2002 and sells and services Triumph motorcycles. Information: 991-5500.

Hmmmm...I wonder why this report doesn't go on to tell the rest of this story.

Ya see, word is that during the filming of this movie there was a scene(that unfortunately found its way to the cutting room floor) in which right after Ms. Jolie hops off that bike and takes off on foot, in an effort to give the impression to the audience that she's very thankful that her Triumph was able to help in her escape from the bad guys chasing her, she leans over and gives the bike a quick kiss on the gas tank.

(uh huh...you guessed it...once the bike was received by the folks at Breeze Cycles in Omaha Nebraska, it took 'em a whole hour and a half to remove all of the lip mark she left on it!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

(in other words...YOU poor souls better get used to seein' THIS picture A LOT around here!!!)

I wonder if the seat is for sale?

I couldn't own that bike. Neglecting the fact that I can't afford it ATM, I'd have a ****** of a time explaining to the mrs. why I needed a new seat right after buying it and why I'm always sniffing that "weird new pillow". She'd understand, tho.. she tolerates my two crushes (Angie and Pink) so long as I tolerate hers.

I drove to my in laws house in Albany, NY last weekend for a birthday party. (5 year old triplets. Thank god it’s them, not me.) Was talking to my brother in law about movies, and mentioned I wanted to see Salt. To my surprise, he said "Yeah, Angelina was here yesterday for the premiere in Albany". It turns out that they did a lot of the filming of Washington DC city scenes for the movie in Albany. He saw the movie and said that he could definitely recognize locations in some of the scenes. And sure enough, if you look up at that promo pick in this thread, notice the NY license plate on the car in the background.
